The Henry Self Check-in Guesthouse

Room was basic Had a kitchenette and a cute bathroom Breakfast was delivered outside our door the 2 mornings we were there Fresh pastries,jam,butter,cheese ans juice Bed only had 3 pillows and for 2 people could have done with 4 for comfort. Self check in very easy We were right opposite the front door which was good as no lift and heavy bags Outside of main Zurich so a little bit of a walk from the train station. Area is a little run down All in all a pleasant stay and simple for what was needed

Quite a conveniently situated hotel if arriving by train - about 10 minutes walk from the main station. This is a self-service hotel - therefore no reception. Guests are given a code to obtain their key from a safe box outside the front door. There is no lift (to be fair the hotel warns you about this when booking) but it was a real inconvenience with two suitcases to find I was on the 4th floor and had to climb nearly 80 stairs! The rooms are comfortable and well equipped (comfortable bed, TV with satellite channels, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, induction hob, air conditioning). The hotel has invested in individual designs for each room, taken from a scene in a Hollywood film ( mine was Goodfellas) which are very attractively decorated. Unfortunately this has led to some elements of putting design above function - a chandelier suspended from a low ceiling meant I banged my head every time I crossed the room, a large spotlight fitting at the bed head meant the same everyone I sat up in bed. Breakfast (croissants, ham & butter, orange juice, coffee pod for the machine) is hung outside the room at 7 in the morning. Biggest negative for me was that the window, directly above my bed head, had no blind or curtain so the room was flooded with light from 4:30 am.

The room was affordable. We were able to access it easily following the directions sent to me in a confirmation email; there are no staff on site to check you in and out. The hotel is in a great location. The room was small but fine. There was an A/C unit in our room that works nicely. The walls were a bit thin, and there was no elevator, but for one or two nights and for the price it’s perfectly fine.

At check in we encountered trouble due to overbooking. The in house staff was helpful but the manager I got to talk to was rude. When we finally got a room it was very worn down. The ceiling lamp was broken and a part even fell off and almost hit me in the head. The electric socket was lose and were hanging out of the wall and the kitchenette was very poorly equipped. There was a loud noice in the wall every 10-30 min that woke us up in the night. Owner responded to the review by saying that we tried to check in at 9 am. In reality we checked in at 6 pm. I left the honest review above on ***********. Following this, the owner contacted me and wanted to “reimburse me to change my review”. As I did not change anything, he now proceeded to claim that I had broken a lamp, which was broken on arrival, and reported by me as such, upon check in. The owner has requested CHF250 for the lamp. The claim was presented two weeks after check-out. This is nothing but a clear attempt of extortion, to make me change the review. Stay away from this hotel. There are many good hotels in Zurich, but The Henry is not one of them.

Tiny rooms and no lifts . Be prepared to drag your bags up 4 floors..These guys deliberately gave us the highest floor room after confirming to us that they will give us a lower floor. All Asians should Avoid this place like the plague ! Horrble

DONT BOOK PLEASE. They cancelled our reservation last minute and we had an awful time searching for accommodation last minute in Zurich- an expensive city. The hotel was our first stop in Switzerland and they messaged us regarding cancellation when we were our on our flight to zurich. This nightmare doesn’t end here. A week on as I right this review, I am yet to receive my refund. Did I mention that my booking was fully paid? PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND STAY ELSEWHERE. Now instead of refunding my money they are sending my messages about how we made a booking for six people but were actually ten. That’s not true. We were six and had paid for six .

A terrifying experience, easily my worst of the last 8-10 years (and I travel a lot for work). This hotel has no assistance on site and they don't reply on the phone number they provide customers with. The room I was assigned upon check-in was considerably smaller than the one I had booked, and it was certainly not cheap. Worse still, it was SO full of dust everywhere, the bed linens and the towels were all stained (and, frankly, very smelly), one towel was even broken (!), and the bed had bed bugs (!!!). I scratched and had red patches on my skin for a week. The room is poorly lit (very different from the photos the hotel provides) and smells of a place that has not been cleaned in a long, long while. The (very) mini kitchen had only a few items to cook and all were dirty. I was promised a desk/working space and there was only a broken chair. I had booked this hotel because I was attracted by the good reviews and the nice photos of the rooms, but in my experience this was totally deceiving. To make it even worse, the hotel managers were very hard to reach and overall arrogant and impolite. This hotel could really do with some official sanitary inspection, because the sleeping conditions are appalling for a 3* hotel. The location is very central, but this is far from enough to justify a stay in this place. I cannot recommend it.

Seems like a scam. I booked via their website which clearly stated ‘ohne Anzahlung’ and subsequently they took my money. Mind you, it is not a reservation. I have been trying to get in touch for 5 weeks, but there is only one phone number that ever gets picked up and this gentleman states that he cannot get in touch with the financial administration. If anyone from The Henry is reading this: please handle this adequately ASAP!!!

I was super eager to stay at this hotel with all of its amazing reviews and uniqueness of the hotel. So here is my list of pros and cons: Pros: - Prime location! Close to tons of shops, restaurants, and tram/bus station - Comfortable bed - They had a patio and bar that was never opened. Cons: - Construction: I saw previous reviews months prior about the construction and when I was there it doesn't seem like it's going to end anytime soon. - No parking: Due to construction there is a lack of parking at the front of the hotel or nearby. - Small room: I requested three different rooms and received an email approving my request prior to arriving. When we arrived we didn't receive any of the rooms requested and was put in one of the smallest rooms.t. The room had a stove and fridge but no dresser/closet or anywhere to store luggage/clothes. So if you're planning on a long stay it might not be the best - Lack of communication: Since there is no reception desk I had to email the hotel multiple times about the issues with the room and they took hours to respond. I tried calling and all numbers provided failed to go through as an invalid number. -Possible mold issue in the bathroom due to wallpaper coming up in the shower and around the toilet After reaching out to the staff with our issues and emailing back the next day they reported us to *********** saying we never checked in? This just seemed sketchy to me because now I can't leave a review and they failed to email me back on why they said that. Overall, you can't beat the price and location. I was just really disappointed in the lack of communication and poor treatment.
