The hotel located in the next station from kinugawa onsen. I have booked one night here. The hotel provided japanese gown in room for yukata to all guests. Badly they provide male apparel for us. The staff who saw always gossip very bad experience.
However, Staff at breakfast floor is very nice. He can't speak English but I feel his kindness.
Arriving at the train station, I found out the shuttle bus for the hotel wouldn't arrive for another 45 minutes, so we opted to walk there. It takes about half an hour but going uphill in the blazing sun was a bit torturous. The driveway is also very steep, so beware if you have a lot of baggage. Hotel has a wealth of history. It hosted a lot of famous guests in the early 20th century. Modern hotels are sterile in comparison. It's an old building, so is draughty and full of ancient furniture. This may be a turnoff for some but I found it completely charming.
We stayed for 2 nights. Lovely view as it’s right on the lake. The food was good - served in the main restaurant area. Only thing I would say is that the onsen area was not heated when we arrived so it was quite cold. The lock/handle to the outdoor onsen was broken too.
Otherwise a nice stay
The hotel is great! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with many facilities like karaoke, a game center, and more. I visited with my family, a total of 14 people, and they were able to arrange a private room for us for both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were buffet-style and absolutely delicious.
The onsen experience was wonderful, and the view from the onsen was fantastic, with a beautiful view of the Kinugawa River.
However, there was one issue: when we checked in, the reception took our passports for photocopying. Unfortunately, they missed returning one of the passports to us. It wasn’t until after we checked out and reached our next stop that we realized one passport was missing. We had to go back to the hotel to take it.
Despite this, the overall experience was great, and I would still recommend the hotel.
This appears to be a new hotel only 11 minutes walk from the train station. It was probably the tallest building in town. The room was very clean as well as the facilities. We arrived at 2:00 and were hoping they would let us check in early but we could only check in, but had to wait until 3:00 to go to the room. They made others wait as well. They did have free alcohol from 6:00-9:00pm in the lobby. The breakfast was okay but not much variety. The room was nice, but probably the smallest I have stayed in while in Japan. It was a quick train ride to Ashikaga Flower Park which was nice since that was the reason we came here. The bed wasn’t soft but it wasn’t terribly hard either. Over all, a decent place to stay except for the size of the room.

MMisafir KullanıcıThe room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great. The free cocktail and coffee services in the lobby were nice, as well as the free drink bar (including one beer per person) near the entrance to the hot spring. The paid massage service was also good. The meals were decent, especially the grilled beef, which simply melted in my mouth. The restaurant staff welcomed us warmly and provided friendly service.
Cons: The variety of hot springs was lacking, and the view from the hot springs was almost blocked, which was disappointing. The lockers for valuables used combination dials, and foreign guests often didn’t know how to use them, locking their room keys inside and struggling to reopen them. This was a major inconvenience. They should switch to a key-and-wristband system like other onsen hotels.
The room itself felt like an old, once-grand mansion that had seen better days. The furniture had many scratches, and the surfaces were worn and peeling. It made me think it must have been impressive in the past. Still, the room was definitely more spacious compared to other hotels.
MMisafir KullanıcıWent for work, staff wasn’t the nicest but were accommodating enough - the night staff was a little rude, but the morning staff the next day was kind enough. I had time to kill in the lobby, where there were free massage chairs, though they were a little beaten up.
There were food and drink dispensers as well as a hot water heater and microwave for use. There are also public onsen style baths that I did not take advantage of, but they had many selections.
The room I stayed in was nothing special, but was fine for the night I was staying. The location is not great but not terrible, as there is a supermarket nearby open until midnight
My biggest piece of advice would be to rent a car if you are staying here; I took a cab then walked to the station the next day after my business in the area was done

MMisafir KullanıcıA lovely hotel with a great onsen. Traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious! Not much going on around the hotel though restaurant-wise, it’s definitely easier coming with a car.

MMisafir KullanıcıI went to Yumoto for hiking and found this wonderful place. The staffs are very helpful. Although, they cannot fully communicate in English. They are trying their best to make sure my stay is the best experience I have.
Room is clean and has no AC.
Breakfast and dinner are traditional Japanese course and I love them.
About Onsen, it might not be in the best condition but it is good enough.
If I have a chance to return to Nikko, I will stay at this place again.
MMisafir KullanıcıAll the staffs are professional, very service oriented and special mention to the room service is super super prompt! Room amenities are luxurious! Bed and blanket is so fluffy! Breakfast portion is huge and fresh. We were able to use the shuttle service for check in and out, only got a cab at the Nikko train station when we return late at around 7pm.
