It’s a hostel. We have to pay for the towels
Good mattress but my blanket came without covers on. So that’s not good housekeeping.
The bathing - water spray good strength with shampoo conditioner and body wash.
There is laundromat.
Dust at the corner of the rooms
The aircon heat only covers the top but couldn’t get to the whole room cos the beds blocked the air ventilation. Hence cold sleeping at the lower bunks
Very very very tight space.
It’s walking distance from station. 10 mins
Surrounded by eateries
We got this cos wanted a budget stay with resting space for 4 people. So it fits my checklist nevertheless.

We stayed just one night as a family of 5 and there was everything we needed. You can even hire towels for 100 yen a go !
It was a marvellous place, slept like babies, free coffee and tea and use of the communal kitchen, free use of the washing machine and and and… not to forget the extremely friendly and knowledgable host. Thanks for a perfect stay 👍

友人との登山目的で今回利用しました。スタッフの方も凄く親切でした！
キッチンや食事エリア、洗面所&シャワー室もかなり綺麗で快適に宿泊ができました。
今回は和室のお部屋に宿泊しましたがこたつもあり寝るだけと考えれば申し分ないです！
レセプションで近くの温泉施設（約徒歩5分)のチケットも安く購入できました！
次回また泊まりたいと思っております。

這家店的女主人非常年輕漂亮、笑容滿面！氣質很好👌👍！我走訪這個「溫泉街」確實這「猿」青年旅館的價位最親民！附上拍攝的照片。一個晚上一個人不到一千台幣！這這樣的溫泉旅館真的很便宜了！The hostess of this shop is very young and beautiful with a smile on her face! The temperament is very good👌👍! I visited this ”hot spring street” and indeed the price of this ”ape” youth hostel is the most affordable! Attached are the photos taken. It's less than 1,000 Taiwan dollars per person per night! This kind of hot spring hotel is really cheap!

價格合適，在當地算便宜，包含早餐，簡單美味。
位置一流，出門兩分鐘就是雪場售票處和巴士站。
幾乎沒有服務，不提供接送。如果晚上四點後到白馬，請前往南小谷坐bus，或者在happo下來打車。不然無法抵達。
Perfect location, 2 mins walk to Tsugaike gondola; clean and nice facilities; free and nice breakfast; foreign staff speaking English; nice staff but no service at all, please help yourself; no pick up service, suggest to drop off at happy bus terminal for taxi.

お得にサッと一人で利用するには最高なので、あまり人に知られて混んで欲しくないです。場所が小諸駅最寄りなので、軽井沢目的だと本数の少ないしなの鉄道利用の場合少し不便ですが、駅近ではあります。
設備はおしゃれにリノベされていて、掃除も行き届き、とてもキレイでした。一人用の2段になった天井の低い寝床タイプですが、今回はたまたまダブルタイプの部屋を割りあててもらえて、寝るだけなら十分な幅がありました。
女性専用エリアの共同シャワーはとても清潔で、無印良品の化粧水やクレンジングのボトルがあり便利です。一つ問題は、早朝4時に目覚ましをかける方が2人居て、アラームがスヌーズのままずっと鳴っていたので4時に起こされたことですが、この宿のタイプだと想定しないと行けません。

Cheapest place to stay at Karuizawa that I could find. Not a convenient location though - half hour walk from Naka Karuizawa station. Room is good and clean.

MMisafir KullanıcıThe staff really went above and beyond to make two ignorant Canadian tourists feel extremely welcome at a traditional Japanese Ryuken. Though there was a small language barrier, we never felt that we could not communicate our needs. The hot and cold onsen was very refreshing after walking post towns along the Nakasendo Way. The river next to the hotel made for a relaxing experience and deep sleep. Somehow, I missed the option when booking to select the dinner option, there is really no other food options in the area, and the clerk (owner) said he would put a 'simple meal' together for us for a small charge which we found acceptable. The kaiseki that followed was some of the best and most authentic Japanese food we experienced in our two weeks in Japan. The woman serving us was an absolute gem and the cat that ran the establishment was adorable. Our room was very comfortable and had a nice sitting area with a view of the river.
Only points of contention would be that that it's a little out of the way if you don't have a car, but is conveniently accessable by bus with ~10 minute walk. The facilities are a little dated, the onsen is discoloured, but I assume that is from the natural minerals. There was a stale smell (smoke) in the rooms which is a bit off-putting to non-smokers. It would appear smoking is allowed in the facility which might be a plus to some.

TTxjemI had a wonderful experience here at Cafe&Stay Castana. The room was clean and comfortable, a great find at this price! The location is great with a free parking lot available, and with a huge supermarket conveniently located beside. However, I have to especially commend the staff, they were so friendly and accommodating to our needs! As you know, sometimes travellers are disoriented and stressed, and their willingness to help is deeply appreciated. I also had to ask for directions to a doctor as I fell sick, and they went above and beyond to take care of me. I could have only experienced this humanity at a small enterprise like this, and am very grateful.
