Le Château des Forges

We spent there two nights. The staff was friendly and effective. There is a beautiful swimming pool next to a nature reservation. Breathtaking view from the room windows. A good breakfast and excellent dinner. We even met a ‘local’ fawn while coming back from an evening in town… We highly recommend.

Stumbled across this hidden gem of a hotel which is dog friendly. One could not ask for more. A Chateau set in stunning location with beautiful interiors. We were lucky with the weather, so dinner was served on the terrace. The meal we had was absolutely delicious with friendly professional service. Thank you. We will be returning. 😍

Great place to enjoy nature and to relax.The staff is very kind and always here to support your request and make your stay wonderful. It is a few miles away from Angers a great city to visit among other small towns around. highly recommend this place.

A beautiful tranquil place to stay in the Loire. It’s a 10 minute drive from Angers and a 5 minute walk to the island of Saint Aubin - recommend seeing both. The staff at the chateau are exceptionally helpful and obliging. The chateau itself has been tastefully decorated, the rooms are clean and comfortable with either a view of the fabulous pool or a wonderful garden. Recommend eating at the chateau with fantastic variety of local produce and beautifully presented. Wouldn’t hesitate to return to this haven of delight.

The location in the country is serene. We enjoyed the terrace off the room. The staff is very helpful; we used their restaurant recommendations which we enjoyed. Breakfast with the local suppliers is sumptuous.

This was our second stay here, and it was just as good as before. Great pool, lovely rooms, friendly staff. Make sure you book a table for an evening meal. Fantastic breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Stayed here on our way south. Very easy to find and easy access Outstanding staff who organised a meal even though their restaurant was fully booked. Excellent quality food both in the evening and at breakfast Standard room are a bit on the small side but it is an old building that has been tastefully decorated. If you are staying longer choose a superior room Will certainly return again and top marks to all the staff

Just returned from a week in France with some good friends. On the whole we had a fantastic holiday. The château was beautiful to look at and was spotlessly clean and in beautiful surroundings. We had a problem with storage, little in some rooms and none in others although there was space in the rooms to put some. Beautiful views and a cute balcony to our room although unusable due to it being dirty and didn't seem to be on the cleaning rota as we had birds nesting above who left their mess on the balcony and ,very rusty, table and chairs that were on there. On our way there,as we were running late, our organiser got a phonecall from a member of staff checking we were on our way and would we need dinner, we said would would and thought it was a lovely gesture but on arrival we were told there was no dinner. The gentleman in charge got us a booking at a restaurant in the town,which wasn't what we wanted to do after such a long drive. We were told we had to book dinner the night before as they bought in the ingredients day to day so we booked dinner for Tuesday evening. The dinner was inedible and in no way was it freshly cooked. The vegetable soup was like dirty water with curry powder in it. The lasagne and ceache were burnt, the ice cream was in a jar that,when opened, had a layer of ice on the top and had obviously been in the freezer a long time. When he was clearing the table we told him we were not happy with the meal and he just shrugged. On checking out I told him I did not expect to pay for a meal I did not eat. He was very dismissive and we exchanged a few words but he would not even discount the meal. I would not recommend anyone staying here to eat the food. We had an amazing holiday and other than this but not sure I would stay there again. J.Matley
