"What a pleasant surprise this hotel was! It has a modern South of France style with a charming pink and green color scheme. First off, the location is absolutely superb – right on the main street of the old town. It's only a 6-minute walk to the train station and less than 10 minutes to the Papal Palace. Plus, the tourist information center is just across the street. Secondly, the breakfast was fresh and plentiful. You could taste the freshness of the ingredients, and their homemade dessert cakes were absolutely delicious – even I, someone who usually avoids sweets, couldn't resist having a few extra bites! The dining area, with its pink and green decor, offered a lovely atmosphere to enjoy breakfast while gazing at the medieval buildings outside the window. So relaxing! The standard room wasn't huge but perfectly functional and spotlessly clean. But the most important thing is how incredibly helpful the hotel staff was. When I was out on a tour and realized my wallet (with my IDs inside) was missing, I was in a panic and called the hotel for help. The manager immediately went to my room twice to check and confirmed that both of my wallets were there. Do you understand that feeling of immense relief after being in despair? When you're traveling and run into problems, having reliable help is crucial. I'm so grateful and touched! I put a lot of thought into writing this, and I wholeheartedly give it a 100% recommendation!"

"While the location was very convenient and the public areas of the hotel were quite pleasant, the rooms were, at most, very basic. The hotel rooms are old and worn with evident deterioration of drains, mirrors and paint. Carpets, especially in hallways, are filthy. Staff was pleasant. We had a dinner that was quite nice. Breakfast was very ordinary. Towels were thin and very worn. Bed were comfortable with really nice pillows. We stayed only two nights and were honestly pleased it was no longer. I realize it is well-used, expensive and gets tremendous numbers of occupants but room maintenance is clearly not a priority. I didn’t anticipate luxury but with an overall four star rating I would have thought it would be much nicer."

Florian and Emmanuelle were fantastic hosts, extremely welcoming and shared great tips on where to visit in Avignon….also Florian was extremely kind in helping us find the place, coming to meet us on a bike, when we were lost in the maze of one way streets! We would definitely stay again if returning to Avignon."

The room was spacious for our family of four and lovely overall, though a couple of small cleanliness hiccups kept it from being perfect (leftover breakfast in the corridor and an empty soap dispenser). "We totally enjoyed our stay in Cloitre des Augustins in Avignon! We had 2 rooms and stayed for 6 nights with family. Rooms are clean, spacious and stylishly furnished. Air conditioning is perfect and with all utensils for making meals. The location is wonderful with lots of cafes, supermarkets and shops nearby. Also walkable to all major attractions such as the Pont d’Avignon (the broken bridge) and Palais de Papes. About 15 minutes walk to Avignon Centre train station which is a bonus if you plan to travel to nearby towns like Arles or Nimes by train. Convenient location and nice rooms. Besides, the host Patrick and his wife are helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended"

"It's hard to know what to say that hasn't already been said about this place. It is the perfect little refuge in the heart of Avignon. We stayed four nights and it could not have been more wonderful. Avignon is a great central location for many places in France, so just come here. I wish we had had more time to just relax in the gardens - they are so beautiful. Room amenities include espresso in the room and a small refrigerator/mini bar. They have a wonderful option for a cheese board or charcuterie board which we took advantage of for a light dinner one night. Breakfast is 8-10 am which is good to know if you have early plans. The TV is small but has an Apple TV with Netflix and other streaming sites. One note of caution though: Don't do what we did and have an out of town driver take you there. Either set up a taxi through the hotel or have your driver drop you off at 26 Rue Catherine. The instructions sent by the hotel to the driver were confusing and ended up in a debacle (no real fault of the hotel)."

The room is a bit small and basic but it can serve all you need in traveling. The facility is a bit old and the door lock is broken. Other than that, overall the facilities are in order."

"Very good intramuros location for visiting Avignon. Very beautiful building located 4 minutes walk from Avignon Center train station and 11 minutes walk from the Palais des Papes. Good bedding. Welcome swimming pool. We changed rooms 3 times, air conditioning breakdown at 35°...too many stairs. Bathrooms much too small with bathtub even in upgraded rooms. Faded paintwork in the rooms. No one at the bar during our week-long stay. Elevators often broken down. Lack of attention to outdated personal breakfast. I think this hotel deserves 3*** and not 4**** as indicated."

"Small room, which probably depended on the type of room booked, but was not so drastic in the description, where practically the only thing taking up the room was the bed, and you could just about get through between the bed and the wall at the foot. No cups or glasses in the room, the tap water (no water bottle for guests) had to be drunk straight from the hand at the sink. Bathroom was clean and completely fine, but the wobbly sliding door to the room was unappetizingly old and stained. The elevator was frighteningly old and you were afraid of getting stuck. The breakfast room was very nice, but when 2 more guests arrived after us, new coffee had to be made for them because the pot was empty, which took a while, and the few slices of salami and cheese had almost been eaten by us - the poor guests after us. The evening before we wanted to have dinner in this atmospheric room, but that wasn't possible, we had to go to another restaurant room (also OK, but not quite as nice), but the next evening we saw guests eating there by the large, beautiful fireplace in the "breakfast room". I think that was bad service without any explanation. the evening before. Because of the elevator and the lack of comfort in the room, I would book somewhere else on my next trip, despite the location right next to the Pope's Palace."

"The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right next to the Papal Palace! However, the facilities are on par with a budget motel, definitely not what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel; it barely scrapes by as a 3-star. Perhaps because it's an old building, the hallways are incredibly narrow and dim. The room was tiny, with no trash can except for a miniature one in the bathroom. There wasn't even a proper desk, just a small 40cm ledge. No gym or pool. The floorboards creaked loudly with every step, making me worried about disturbing the neighbors. There's central air conditioning, but no matter what temperature you set it to, the air coming out was the same as outside. No complimentary bottled water. The most frustrating thing was that the housekeeping staff would always mess up my toiletries, and one time my razor was even disassembled—I suspect the cleaner might have used it themselves 🤢"
