Reserved 3 nights in the Studio for our honeymoon in Bordeaux. The boutique hotel is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city in a quiet neighborhood and it’s decorated transporting you back to the 18th century with ornate decor and charming views. The manager was amazing, attentive, and gave great recommendations and directions for first time visitors. She’s worth the stars. The hotel is at least .5 miles from the city center and cafes - everything shuts down around 8-9 pm. The Studio room is located in the basement and has a door that leads out to the picturesque garden. Unfortunately it smelled like mildew and mold, and we had the worst night sleep ever that first night. The bed was comfy, but neither the blankets or the small extra blanket kept us warm enough. There were traces of black mold in the air conditioner unit as well. We asked to switch rooms in the morning and the wonderful manager was able to switch us to a Premier room located at the very top floor. If you have weak knees, asthma, or not good with stairs, I would suggest avoiding that room to book. The Blue Premier room was so charming and the views from the bedroom window sold itself. The bed was comfy and the bathtub was amazing. We opened the bathroom window to circulate air, but that welcomed in what seemed to be an entire baby spider population and the bathroom was infested with them. Needless to say, it was another sleepless night. Breakfast is about 12€ and consists of coffee/tea, some small pastries, few pieces of cheese and charcuterie, yogurt, hard/soft boiled eggs upon request, and juice assor**ent. It wasn’t filling and really should just be included in the price for what it was worth. We ended up leaving after the 2nd night and grabbing a hotel in the city center after we both were feeling ill. The house and gardens are beautiful, but the mold and mildew left us feeling sick and the smell remained on our clothes packed away. It was hard to breathe after a while there and we we felt much better each time we left the premises. It’s really a very charming B&B with picturesque views, but drastically needs some TLC on the rooms. The photos showcase a very clean, 18th century boutique, but it’s a bit dated and needs to be cleaned a bit if they’re going to compare prices with more modern hotels in the area. I recommend setting expectations early if you plan to book here. This isn’t a fancy, modern B&B, but does make you feel like one of the locals based on location and has charming, photo worthy views throughout. It won’t have all the amenities that comparable prices offer, and there will be scuff marks, chips on all dinnerware, and cobwebs. This place also gave off very much ******* vibes as both of us woke up the first night and mentioned we felt like there was someone watching us in the room that first night. We likely won’t book there again, but the manager was so wonderful.
