"A strange smell upon entering the room. No electrical outlets at the headboard. No courtesy tray with a kettle, coffee, or tea. In the bathroom, the cups aren't vacuum-sealed. The bathtub drains poorly, and a strange smell occurs when the water runs. The same smell as upon entering the room. No air conditioning, but a fan sits on the desk. The doorbell doesn't work. As a result, the door stays open if you don't close it. Breakfast-wise, for almost €10, you'd expect better. No omelet or grilled ham. It's really basic. This is still a decent hotel for the price, but it deserves a refresh and some maintenance."

"Bad experience. Yet last year we went there as a family and we didn't have any problems. It seems that loyalty is the boss's last problem... I had to cancel my reservation due to my daughter's health problem. I notified the hotel manager directly, who accepted the cancellation and at no time did he mention any fees or even full payment. I would have paid a fee if he had told me about it because I am respectful of the work. Everything seemed to be settled... But surprise! That same evening, the receptionist called me, pretending to ask me my arrival time, even though she knew perfectly well that my reservation was canceled. When I reminded her of this fact, she coldly replied that she was going to charge my credit card anyway. After negotiation, she told me that she would check with the manager and 15 minutes later my card was debited. Dishonest and unacceptable behavior! Non-existent customer service! And looking at the reviews after the fact, I realize that this is not the only problem with this hotel: Unpleasant rigid staff and the highlight of the show, bedbugs on many reviews!!"

"We have stayed at the Novotel Bourges many times over the years, usually as an overnight stop when travelling through France, and our experiences have sometimes been a little hit or miss. On this occasion, however, our stay on the journey South was a good one. The hotel was extremely busy, particularly on the Friday evening, but there was still a nice atmosphere about the place. The bar was very busy but was well staffed and service remained friendly and efficient despite the number of guests. Our rooms were spotless, well appointed and clearly modernised to a good standard. We had a comfortable night's sleep and everything in the rooms was as it should be. Breakfast the following morning was equally busy, but the buffet was well stocked and very well managed. Staff were constantly replenishing items and keeping everything moving, which was impressive given how busy the hotel was. The one significant downside was the parking. There was absolutely nowhere available in the hotel car park when we arrived and we eventually had to park on a grass verge, which wasn't ideal. There also appeared to be a number of vehicles in the car park that looked as though they may have been there for some considerable time. For a hotel that attracts so many guests travelling by car, the parking situation could certainly do with being looked at. Overall though, a good stay on this occasion. The hotel was busy but well run, the rooms were excellent and the staff remained friendly and welcoming throughout."
