First off, this is a real review by a real person. My wife and I took our 2 kids ( 4 yr, 7yr) for their first all-inclusive Mexico trip. We booked the Royal Park Beach resort mostly based on the fact that it looked pretty kid friendly. There is a kids pool area with a few water slides and a Kids Club, so we thought that was a good start. The kids pool area, with the slides, is okay. It's not big, but it's not too small. The issue we had is that the pool floor is extremely rough and both our kids scraped and cut their feet and knees. Where the bigger slide spits the kids out was the worst for this.
The Kids Club is for 5-12 year olds, and it's the most depressing thing I've seen in a long time. Dark and dingy and the activities are simply sitting at a table doing "crafts".
There is no night time entertainment, like all of the other Mexican resorts we've gone to offer. So, it's challenging to fill the evening hours with the kids. The food was not bad, but it was not spectacular at all.
The staff was very biased to the Spanish speaking guests. Sometimes I had to flag down a bartender or server, even though they could clearly see that I was waiting for service. And, I was one of the only people tipping the staff, so it was strange to me that they'd just ignore us.
If you are used to staying at real 4 or 5 star properties, this will leave you disappointed, but for our kids first trip it was okay. They enjoyed most of the experience, except the kids pool.
