A little outside Lucca but in a strategic position (a few minutes in car and you get straight out the city walls) , a ” old ” family house transformed into B&B , where you breathe a simple and hospitality air, The room with air conditioning and a bathroom with wall-screen, both very clean, the outer space a small angle of peace where to relax. All charming, the garden, the port with the vineyard where breakfast was served, the pool area, the lake, the room with the port. The very gentle, available and always smiling lady, looked for a dinner place at the last minute and gave us useful advice. We booked a standard room on the relais site (appropriate compared to other sites), but we were then placed in the suite for another booking arrived at the same time. We haven't used sauna and hydromassage, so I can't say anything about it, but the suite is very nice, spacious and with a round bed. It is in the pool area, isolated from the rest of the building, and enjoys a private porch with a sofa, protected by the sun and separated from the pool garden by a racking makes this space really relaxing and intimate. The pool is well maintained and clean, the garden is very spacious, with a gasoline and a bedroom. Breakfast is served on the table under the porch covered by the vineyard, all very good. There is a fusion restaurant (separate management from the relais) within the structure that we have not tried, reachable walking from the hotel (about 300 meters).There is Da mi papa, where you eat really well, typical Toscana cuisine. We have been very good; we certainly advise it and we will return.

Please stay somewhere else! Learn from our mistake. This may be a photogenic building, but its a soulless, slow, sloppy, faded and, in our case, very expensive place. On arrival we went to the bar for a late lunch. About 25 minutes after Simone had taken our order I asked where our food was? Simone said that he was busy, (only 1 other table was occupied) but he was just going to go and prepare it (...!). I told him to fuggeddaboudit; he complained that it wasnt his fault: he is the waiter & chef. (Is this really supposed to be 5 star service hotel?). We left, and apart from breakfast, we avoided eating in the hotel. (Break fast was fine - because it is self service - but do they really need the squeaky breadgrill with its high pitched irritating squeak?). We were 2 parents with a 5&7 year old. Our room was €650 a night (!). They upgraded us to a suite (so how bad was our original room?). The suite was nice, spacious, elegant but barely a €300 a night accomodation. The wifi was slow, intermittent and some areas with no coverage, which was very frustrating. Tip: get Starlink wifi throughout. In bed I noticed hopping fleas - maybe they were attracted to the mobile phone screen. After I complained, I was told that the room had since been checked, sheets changed and no fleas found - but I still found more the next night and our daughter got 3 bites. Even a week later the hotel calls me at home to assure me that there were no fleas (?) I should have read more reviews before I booked and noted how Thomas the GM notes the criticisms are fabrications.... IMO this hotel grossly devalues The Leading Hotels of the World brand. Pity. Its a decent 3 star hotel at best. I informed the staff about the issues early in our stay. I chased them up again and they apologised and offered me free spa treatment - no thanks: I just want them to fix the issues and make this an enjoyable 3 star hotel. Its never going to be a proper 4 of 5 star and Leading Hotels of the World should drop this as the only 5 star attribute are the prices. Its a rip off for what it is.

The suites, living room and room are large in size, with a total of 2 large beds, which are very comfortable to sleep. The facilities are slightly old, but the sanitation is very good. A little distance from the city, there is a large supermarket within 15 minutes of walking.

The property is in a great location for exploring the town and the park and funicular. The hotel is spotlessly clean both inside and out. The roof top pool area is great for relaxing with a cooling breeze and fantastic views of Montecatini Terme Alto. What really made this our best ever Italian stay though is the hotel staff were exceptional throughout. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we were always met with a friendly smile, impeccable service, we honestly cannot remember better customer service from a hotel stay. A special mention for Nadisha whom we primarily worked the rooftop pool bar, this young lady is an absolute credit to the hotel, she is non stop, fluent in so many languages, never stops working and never stops smiling with every guest she meets and takes such wonderful care off.
