This hotel is well-located on the east side of Dali old town, just north of Ren Min Road (although down a confusing back alley). The staff was very accommodating and delightful to deal with, and could speak English.
My one problem with this hotel was the room. The room itself was nice enough, but with some broken fixtures (i.e. bedside lights, towel hook, door to room!!!). When we informed the hotel staff, they knew the door didn't close properly nor the bedside lights work. I would normally overlook these smaller issues, but the biggest problem compounded them: the terrace pictured with the expensive room on the top floor is NOT a private terrace. There is no mention of this on the hotel's booking page, nor in the pictures (which make it seem as if each of the two expensive upper floor rooms have private terraces. When combined with the price, which was quite high at over 500-600rmb a night, I would expect much more attention to detail, and certainly a private terrace.
Overall, the hotel is beautiful and the room was nice (with windows all around the bed, offering decent views of the CangShan range), but not worth the 500rmb + price for such a small room with broken fixtures and a public terrace.
