I have stayed in the Hotel a number of times since it opened. The hotel is in a good location, there is on street parking close by, and its on the canal right beside Rathmines. On opening, it has some good rates, but now the rates are the same as the sky high ones in Dublin generally. And thats where it starts to fall down. The rooms are tiny. Really really tight. One person and you are tripping over your suitcase. There is nowhere to work, so you kind of back yourself into a chair and work with stuff on your lap. The advertising card in the room asks for a 10/10 review when you leave, and if you dont plan to leave 10/10, to let them "set it right". I dont fancy your chances. The reason I give it such a poor rating is how they deal with issues. I was silly enough to walk out of the hotel room leaving an expensive electric razor behind. Any other four star hotel I have stayed in the past, leaving something behind just gives the hotel a chance to shine. Not NYX. Within 4 hours of leaving, I had realised I had left my razor, and knew exactly where in the tiny room I had. I emailed the hotel immediately, giving them the room number, and expected a prompt response. I got none. That was Friday. I thought maybe its a weekend, housekeeping and safekeeping are closed and maybe they will call me Monday. I heard nothing and called on Monday afternoon. I was assured by reception they would check and call me back within the hour. Again, nothing. I emailed them on Thursday, expressing frustration at the lack of response. I got a reply a few hours later saying, basically, ya we checked, no its not there. Goodbye. I replied pointing out it was an expensive item and perhaps if Housekeeping had tossed it in the bin, they should be talking to housekeeping? No reply. Lots of options in Dublin. All expensive. The uniqueness of Dublin for most people is the pleasantness and helpfulness of the staff. Management dont seem to have got that across in NYX Dublin
