just got back from a relaxing four days, the hotel has new management so ignore any reviews from before two years ago, you can see they have made some major changes and where they are trying to take the hotel. The hotel itself has some breath taking views, it’s on a marina with some luxury boats that come in and out the of the port onto the med which is actually what the hotel reminds me of like a huge cruise liner without the boat part, right next to a soft shell beach. It’s not loud you won’t hear a lot apart from the noise of the waves and the sounds of conversations between families in all different languages, it basically shuts down at ten, the wifi is brilliant you get it even on the beach, no reserving sun beds, there’s so many, the hotel is so clean. The staff are the best you can ask for they take an interest in you, who you are, why you are there, always polite even if guests are not so much. The drinks are not watered down, you get a real glass of coke, true Gin in your drinks, with waiter service for lunch and dinner drinks, so if that’s your thing then it’s perfect and you don’t need to read the buts there are a few buts though. Remember in Greece you pay a hotel tax, it’s different depending on your hotel star rating, it’s based on the number of nights and payable on arrival so if you book four nights even if you arrive after midnight then you pay for four nights, that’s not just this hotel but as this is a five star hotel I think it’s relevant. If you arrive after ten at night there is no food even on an all inclusive, you have to wait until morning or pay additional costs, the costs for anything that’s not in the all inclusive is a lot, 1 Coca-Cola is 5 euros, that nearly five pounds for a glass of Coca-Cola. There is no electronics for sale close to the hotel so if your charger cable breaks, then you have issues, we managed to borrow one from one of the staff so always bring spares. You have to make arrangements for food and drink if you have a late transfer back to the airport, ours was late afternoon so we did get lunch but no drinks if you don’t then you will have to pay. Not all food and drink is part of the all inclusive deal and the food that is which is a buffet doesn’t change massively but the staff take great care in the preparation of the food. It’s always cleanly served, lots of choice but watch the labels I mistakenly ate beef which was labelled pork, needless to say I’m not supposed to eat beef, after my second bite I went to check only to be told it’s been mislabelled. However on an all inclusive package you do get one meal in the menu based restaurant away from the the buffet. The spa is great but as with all hotels it’s additional costs with no discounts for all inclusive packages. the gym has a glass view right next to the port, don’t get me wrong it needs new equipment so I had to train on the beach but a few days that I did train in there showed how well it’s been thought out. There are a lot of good things with this hotel, the rooms are beautifully designed, the hotel lobby is nice, they have three tennis courts which was our main reason for staying here. The beach is really nice and the service on the beach is really quick and the people working there is nice and helpful. I don’t know why some had bad luck and stayed there when service where slow maybe they had improved until we went since that was not at all the case when we were there. The hotel was full when we where there but service was still good and quick. I was worried before we went here due to the bad reviews and expected the worst. But since all other five star hotel in the area costed twice as much I understood that this hotel maybe not be the best. We payed 600 euro a night for four. We usually stay at six senses, four season or Belmond and they cost three four times as much but are also three times as good. But this time we just wanted sun and a hotel that had a nice beach and tennis and we wasn’t prepared to pay as much since we are going to Maldives this autumn. So for you who didn’t know, there are so many different levels of five star hotel so if you find a five star hotel that costs 300 euro a night don’t expect to much. Since there are other five star hotel we stayed at that cost 2500 a night, and then my expectations are quite high. So my expectations this time wasn’t very high but when we arrived the personnel and the room was a positive suprice. All people working at the hotel are so nice and friendly and we haven’t had any problem with the cleaning. Actually I don’t understand the complaints that it’s dirty because I haven’t seen any dirt at all except the tables at the beach. They are so dirty every morning and there seem to be no routine for cleaning them. Ok now to the part that really bothers me, the food! The menu in the poolbar is like a children’s menu, mostly sandwiches and quite expensive for what you get. 18 euro for a sandwich with bread, salad, mayo and meet. Something they call Bao bun, supposed to be a Asian kind of bread with chicken ( I had the original a lot of times and it’s really tasty) It costs 20 euro and it’s prefab chicken nuggets with salad, mayo and bread ( regular bread) even the Greek salad is bad, it didn’t have any dressing and was really mediocre. The Caesar salad was ice berg salad not the salad used in Caesar salad and it still cost 20 euro. But except from the price, this is NOT ok for a five star hotel. So much pre fab and lack of variety that even if we just had lunch here three days i don’t know what to eat tomorrow cause nothing is good and everything is bad quality. The spa treatments and the gym is also very good so there are a lot of good things here but it was impossible to give a five star even if I really wanted since every one working here is so kind and really do there best but due to the really bad food in both restaurants it had to be four and it was on the verge I gave I three. 1) The hotel is new with excellent rooms. It also has excellent outdoor and indoor spaces. 2) I gave 4 instead of 5 to the location because the sea in front of the hotel has rocks and is very cloudy. When I say rocks, I mean lots of rocks, small, big and sharp. In a word, the sea is bad. 3) I gave 4 instead of 5 to the service because I was not informed at check in about the sharp rocks. I was cut badly by the rocks. You can only swim with beach shoes. 4) At the hotel restaurant, we ate pizza with mushrooms. The pizza was not eaten. Unacceptable for a 5* hotel. 5) There are beaches near the hotel, about 500 meters away, that you can go to with your car. They have sand, no stones, they are crystal clear, you can see everything at the bottom and they are not very crowded. 6) The breakfast is fantastic. It even has things you didn't think of. Would I go back to the hotel? Of course yes. I will swim in the nearby beaches and eat in the village of Ierissos. It's an excellent hotel, but a bit expensive.

We were a family of 7- grandparents (2), adult daughter, son and wife, and 2 grandchildren (6,2). We chose Ekies because of its emphasis on ”family friendly”, but was smaller than many options and seemed to get good reviews for the quality of food provided. The son +wife + grandchildren stayed in a large suite (an excellent choice), and we stayed in a junior suite for 4 nights upgraded to a Pine suite for 3 nights. We stayed for 7 nights and then moved on to Kassandra Palace for 8 nights- reviewed separately. To be clear my wife and I (the grandparents) travel a lot, and staying in a resort is NOT our norm- but our aim was to give everyone a super holiday and to help with the care of the youngsters. Ekies certainly met our high expectations, and indeed the attitude of the staff, particularly in regard to the little ones was fantastic- I can certainly confirm that Ekies is ”family friendly”- the beach was PERFECT for children of this age- although older ones might wish for something a little more exciting. The food offering was indeed first class. We took the half board option and felt we made no compromises around how we would wish to eat when travelling, although if I was doing this again I'd probably do B&B for a couple of nights as there are a couple of excellent tavernas within walking distance. We took everyone on a boat trip which we'd certainly recommend. Improvements?- Please don't serve San Pelligrino- I like SP- but when in Greece why not serve your local sparkling water. Also extend the shallow end of the main pool- at busy times the small shallow end is insufficient. Ekies is not a cheap option, particularly in August, but it has an excellent ambience, and delivered good value. I would happily recommend it.

Beautiful 5 star resort 1,5h from Thessaloniki Airport. Went there in off season, so it was a bit more quiet :-) big rooms, cozy beds, all kinds of soft or supporting pillows. Amazing buffet mornings and evenings with breathtaking variety and absolutely delicious dishes in perfect cleanliness and style. Super soft towels. Amazing pools, super clean beach. Friendly and helpful staff. It’s surely helpful to have a car if you want to explore the surroundings, if not there’s a free transfer included from the airport. Beautiful, big resort, top cleanliness and service. Own app for better overview (sports, entertainment, etc). You can even place your extra wishes (e.g. house keeping) over WhatsApp. Very modern design, rooms in soft beach’s colours. If anything was disturbing, then it has been the majority of the guests wasting this delicious food disrespectful without a thought in big style. What a shame. No minus point for the resort though :-)))
