Quinta Jardins do Lago

As a world traveller, I love to share with fellow travellers photos of my adventures. But in this instance, I am compelled to also share my hotel stay at Quinta Jardins do Lago, which was exemplary. The accommodations were lovely: sumptuous interior design replete with tastefully appointed furniture and artwork, overlooking beautiful gardens; all rooms had balconies to enjoy this spectacular view. And the comfort of the kingsize bed was divine. Even my three year old granddaughter slept like a log in the crib they provided! You're surrounded by elegant botanic gardens, varied, lush and aesthetically designed, with identifiers of most plants. The gardens are also home to a sixty-six year old tortoise named Colombo, from the Galapagos Islands, who brought endless fun and wonder to everyone. The dining experience added another superb dimension to the enjoyment of this fabulous hotel, from the delicious breakfast, buffet and "to order," to the sumptuous dinners, prepared by talented chefs. Not only is all the bread baked on premises, including morning croissants and multi-cereal rolls, but even the ice-cream is artisanally crafted at the hotel. The menu was tastefully varied, complemented with an intriguing wine list. And finally, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming: so friendly, helpful, and engaging. I heartfully thank you for making my stay at your beautiful hotel so comfortable, enjoyable, exceptional and memorable.

A true 5* experience. This hotel is quite possibly the nicest I've had the pleasure of staying at. The service is impeccable, the hotel immaculate, and the gardens simply beautiful. My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding and it couldn't have been more perfect. I highly recommend this hidden gem if you're looking for a luxury getaway! Special mention to the resident tortoise Columbo who made our stay all the more memorable. We will be back!

if you are looking for a really nice place to stay in Funchal, then this is a staggeringly good hotel. The staff are amazingly nice and helpful, the food is excellent and chef creates lovely menus for each day and then there is the gardens and the tortoise (!) - utterly amazing. Far exceeded our expectations.

I rarely write a review but on this occasion I make an exception. This hotel is absolutely outstanding, my husband and I couldn't fault it. The service we received from every member of staff was first class, the gardens are breathtaking and the location above Funchal was perfect. We will definitely be returning to this stunning oasis.

We stayed at Quinta Jardins do Lago for our honeymoon and it exceeded our expectations. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed, including fresh fruit and prosecco as a celebratory gift. The gardens were beautiful and meeting Colombos was a treat! The staff were all incredibly attentive and friendly; we felt very well looked after during our stay. Breakfast was amazing with plenty of choice. We had dinner in the bistro one evening and the service and food was also great. The free shuttle bus service into Funchal was very useful, although it wasn't too challenging to walk there and back (and you can visit the fort and Quinta da Cruzes museum on the way).

The hotel accommodation, its outstanding staff and supurlative catering are beyond anything else offered in Madeira. The location within a botanical garden making it is a dream stay. OK not central to mass tourism if that is what! Staying here is a chance for you to really relish treating yourself by enjoying a really first class experience. We did and we will be back.

Wonderful stay at this exceptional hotel. Immaculately kept with amazing gardens. The staff went over and above to make our stay perfect. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Excellant breakfast usually outside in the gardens. We were on a half board basis so we ate in the restaurant every night. The menu was varied and the food was beautifully presented. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Unforgettable Holidays The Quinta Jardins do Lago hotel offers a luxurious stay amidst an exotic tropical garden and ensures a pleasant stay in its beautiful rooms. We enjoyed the junior suite with a balcony view of the garden – a dreamy room! The hotel staff was extremely accommodating and available at any time for any inquiries. The entire team was competent and professional. The culinary experience at the hotel was unique! Excellent food at any time of the day. The dinner and the service of the staff were outstanding. We highly recommend this hotel. The cleanliness of the room, the design of the furniture, and the care provided by the housekeeping were meticulous and excellent

Everything about this hotel is exceptional. Friendly, courteous staff. Great breakfasts served in amazing surroundings. The food choices for dinner are very good and tasty.The garden is breathtaking, it is like holidaying in a park. Will highly recommend this hotel to everyone and we will definitely return.
