Pestana Village, Garden Hotel

"I find the reviews a bit confusing because our experience was the complete opposite. It may have been a 4* in the 80s but not anymore. Furthermore, half the 'resort' facilities are in fact next door in the adjacent hotel Miramar (which actually looks a better hotel). The food was sub-standard, mass produced slowly dying under hot lamps. There's not enough tables for the number of guests meaning some had to queue. Tables are also uncomfortably squashed together. As for the rooms, probably a bit worse than a Travelodge. Peeling wall paper, stains on the curtains and a dirty yellow bath. See pictures. Bouncy uncomfortably hard beds and hard lumpy pillows. Also there are no gardens as described, just walkways between apartments with lots of albeit lovely foliage. The positives. Good location for the sea front and the old town. Staff were polite and helpful too."

"Elka and Peter from Carlow, Ireland We spent seven wonderful days in Madeira. We stayed at the Aparthotel Imperatriz, Funchal. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Madeira and have a peaceful and enjoyable stay there. We were warmly welcomed there and wonderfully looked after throughout our stay. The room was very well equipped: kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, cutlery and cooking utensils. We personally only used the fridge for fruits, as the hotel is next door to the wonderful restaurant "Bernini" with a very rich menu, they also offer a breakfast buffet. You can enter the restaurant directly from the reception. They are only separated by a door. The bathroom is huge, equipped with a bath, shower, bidet, hairdryer, etc. The room was cleaned thoroughly daily, bed linen and towels were changed daily. The receptionist Claudia was very kind and helped us choose and book 3 day excursions and a catamaran tour, for which we are very grateful. The hotel is very conveniently located in the center of Funchal and is next to some of the best restaurants. The central pier can be reached on foot in just 15 minutes, passing through a beautiful city park with diverse and very beautiful vegetation. There are hop-on hop-off bus stops in both directions near the hotel."

"Arkadaş grubumuzla otelde kaldık. Deneyim gerçekten güzeldi - odalar temiz, tasarımları ilginç ve rahat. Yandaki diğer otelde kahvaltı yapıyorsunuz ve çok lezzetli. Ayrıca diğer otelin alanını da kullanabilirsiniz - gerçekten güzel bir dinlenme alanı, havuz ve deniz manzarası var. Çok keyif aldık. Sadece bir şey rahatsız ediciydi - eğer pencereleri açık bırakarak uyumak isterseniz gerçekten gürültülü olabiliyor. Çünkü otobüsler (sabahın erken saatlerinden itibaren) ve gürültülü insanlar (şarkı söyleyen ve sarhoş bir şekilde bağıranlar) vardı. Ama pencereyi kapatırsanız her şey mükemmel. Teşekkürler"
