Barceló Illetas Albatros - Adults Only

We have just spent 1 night at this stunning hotel celebrating my wife's birthday. It is an absolute gem. The reception team did everything possible to make my wife's birthday very special and memorable. We booked a partial sea view and was offered the closest room to the sea front to make the most of our room package. The room was spotless and had everything you needed to be very comfortable but after seeing the stunning sea views on offer, we decided to upgrade to a full sea view and it was so worth the extra. Room 402 had a huge comfy bed with the best pillows ever! The bathroom is part of the bedroom with frosted glass doors to the large shower and toilet. I want to point out, the doors are glass but not see through! We didnt feel like our privacy was compromised at all. A coffee machine, with as many pods as you like, was a nice addition. Theres a mini fridge full of drinks but we made space in it for our own water and beer. The room also had some other nice touches, just in case you'd forgotten something! ... Bathrobe and slippers, toothpaste and toothbrush, sewing kit, shoe shine, tissues, hair comb, razor and ear buds! The sun shines on the sea view balcony pretty much morning til evening. If you can stretch your budget, a sea view room really does have a jaw dropping view. We actually left our curtains open at bedtime to make sure we didn't miss the sunrise. We used the pool area for an hour which was very clean but because our visit was during November we didn't get in the pools. Towels are available from the daytime restaurant. We visited the spa for an hour too and enjoyed the hot tub, steam room and sauna. Now to the restaurant..... We had such a great dining experience both evening and breakfast. In the evening, we were greeted by a very friendly member of the team with a miniature jug of sangria. Another nice touch! Seated by the window. The hotel had kindly put a bottle of bubbly and a birthday muffin in our room for my wife. We took the bubbly to the restaurant and enjoyed it with our meal. A Free bottle of water was also brought automatically to our table. We thoroughly enjoyed 6 mini courses of tasty food. Started with a very fresh salad, secondly blue cheese pizza, third course of majorcan soup (chicken with potatoes) then we enjoyed the fresh show cooking of pork kebabs (freshly cooked fish and chicken was also available) followed by course 5 of roast pork (melted in our mouths) with delicious roast potatoes and green vegetables and finished with a trio of ice creams and a chocolate brownie. There was so much more to chose from but we simply couldn't fit it all in. All of the food was beautifully presented and so tasty. Breakfast was just as good.. We tucked into most things in small quantities but the highlights for us were fresh fruit smoothies, an orange press to make your very own fresh orange juice, fresh honeycomb, made to order egg omelettes and pancakes, cava, all varieties of cereals with nuts and dried fruit, fresh

The hotel is in a good position for getting out and about. We hired a car and parked it in the free car park about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. It was perfectly safe there. We have stayed with Barcelò in other places and are fans of the loyalty programme but this hotel didn’t quite meet expectations, I think we have been spoilt by previous stays elsewhere. Contacting the hotel before our arrival with questions went unanswered, I tried 2 different email addresses and 2 phone numbers. No one replied to my emails not answered the phone. On arrival at the hotel, we were not offered a welcome drink as other guests have, despite us being in the higher level loyalty category. The room was spacious and clean, we were in a superior side sea view, although we couldn’t see much of the sea due to a very large (and beautiful!) tree obscuring the view. The bed is huge but mattress very firm and pillows not the best quality. I had 2 uncomfortable nights sleep. The third night was better thanks to some sangria! We also didn’t use the balcony at all as we were overlooked and had clear view in to next doors bedroom. There was a lot of noise from building work nearby and other guests banging doors in the hallways. The hotel itself is fine for a base. We were half board but only had dinner one night as it didn’t look great, a lot of the dishes were not labelled (or incorrectly labelled) and the temperature of the food was a bit concerning. Breakfast was good, we had fresh omlettes each day. The spa/wellness centre was highly disappointing, the stairs mentioned in previous reviews have been fixed but the handrail in and out of the very tiny 3 person, salt water jacuzzi was still wobbly. The steam room smelt unpleasant and mouldy so we didn’t use this, the sauna was also very small and wasn’t the most relaxing experience. Staff were all helpful and friendly, always someone on reception and lots of housekeeping staff around. Overall, the hotel suited our needs for a base to sleep whilst we explored the island. If we were to return, it would only be for a couple of nights on a bed and breakfast basis only.

Location was ideal to get into Palma, Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are ok booked room with seaview view was perfect, a couple of issues with the room. Set up of the toilet and wash basin. Wash basin open plan, glass doors on the toilet and shower although frosted glass not very private. No drawers or shelves in the room so small clothing had to be left in our cases, not ideal. Pool area is very clean and well set out Breakfast is fresh, and plentiful only had lunch once that was excellent as well..Not alot to do of an evening, however we were just out of season. All in all i would stay again, however the rooms could be improved.

The hotel reads the comments posted - one about the steps to the spa - when we arrived two weeks later the steps had been replaced. very friendly staff always eager to please

I’ll start by saying I am a big fan of Barcelo hotels and have had some amazing experiences at a number of hotels but may have been a little spoilt by my recent royal level experiences. Check in and out was efficient and friendly. Every member of staff I came across was friendly and helpful. We booked a side sea view room, as this was all that was available, I did email the hotel to see if we could upgrade before arrival but never received a response. When we checked in we were able to upgrade to a full sea view as I was disappointed by the room allocated. Breakfast was excellent and being able to have this on the terrace was lovely. Dinner was average, felt there could have been more authentic cuisine, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. It felt a little old fashioned, canteen like, bright lighting, old furniture etc. a little modernisation, lower lighting, some low level music would help. The pool bar and restaurant during the day was lovely but the only offering in the evening which was empty and lacked atmosphere, no music or entertainment. Pool area was pleasant no music which I like. The pool is hot heated so difficult to use this time of year. The gym offering was poor, 2 main pieces of equipment were broken for my entire stay and never fixed despite reporting to reception twice. I would return for a short break bed and breakfast maybe at a busier time of year

Hotel was clean and room was meeting expectations ! Hotel staff very friendly and helpful ! Overall very nice service by the hotel staff and especially by one of the workers ( Ivonne ) at the blue restaurant next to the pool. Ivonne was so friendly and helpful and always did the little extra for us and she was always smiling and happy. We ate the hotel breakfast during our stay and it was a lot of options at different buffet tables and fruit and vegetables were fresh. Very satisfied with our 5 days stay at this Hotel.

Enjoyable out-of-season break at this lovely hotel at the end of February 2024. The hotel is in the centre of the small town of Illetas but is situated right on the coast with amazing views across the bay towards Palma. There is a bus stop right outside with a regular service into the centre of Palma for only €2. Most of the local shops and bars remain closed until late March/April but there is a local Spar supermarket and the Rose Mallow bar/restaurant over the road is excellent. We had a spacious, light & airy corner junior suite on the 5th floor with views of the sea. Comfortable bed, two sofas and powerful shower with all the amenities. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, especially Vera on the front desk. Service in both the main restaurant and two bars was faultless. Delicious, plentiful and varied breakfast buffet. The only reason for the 4* review was the disappointing state of the spa. As the main pool was closed, we hoped that we would be able to use the spa to relax & enjoy. However, the steps leading down were broken & dangerous. The spa itself was shabby and well overdue for refurbishment. We reported our feedback to the holiday company rep who has escalated it further. Despite the spa, we had a great week and would recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay.

We had our booking cancelled at the Leonardo at three weeks notice before Christmas, and as it turned out we were all pleased because we then had the good fortune to find this lovely place. The breakfast spread is just wonderful, as was our Christmas Eve dinner. The staff are all charming, smiley and so helpful. There are rooms to suit everyone. I must say I would recommend a superior room with sea view terrace. To go to sleep with the sound of the waves and wake up with a glorious sunrise was such a tonic.
