Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & Spa

WOW, what can I say that already has not been said. This is one of the most perfect hotels we have even been to over many years. Simply everything about the place is truly wonderful, far too much to mention individually. The staff deserve a special mention as they were all fabulous, Enzo of course needs an extra special mention as does Gino, the pianist, both absolute gentleman and both so happy. A real delight to be around. THANK YOU to everyone for a wonderful holiday.

Everything has already been said about this “Diamond of Ischia” in earlier reviews, so this one will be a short one. Pros. The most beautiful hotel garden area The most beautiful Ischian style room decoration The most beautiful view from balcony The funniest swimming and chilling pools. The most relaxed beach area with a bar And above all: The most friendly and lovely staff. Cons. For the above reasons, you don't want to leave the hotel at all. One would just to enjoy the Excelsior aesthetic atmosphere and the friendliness of all the staff. Thank you and grazie mille per tutti!

If I could give the Belvedere in Ischia more stars, I would! My son and I stayed at the gorgeous Belvedere Excelsior on the island of Ischia in July 2023. What an outstanding hotel! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the outmost care. Alessandro and Antonio who are in charge of reservations are true gentleman. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are spotless and perfect, every single person who works at the hotel really made sure that our stay was absolutely perfect! And was it ever! The food at the restaurant was divine! Recommendations were made for the wines, explanations were given about the Michelin star dishes, most with local fish/seafood/olive oil/wines. The beach is right there, and it’s a true private beach! The food at the beach and at the pool was just as delicious than at dinner. Thank you Enzo for the fabulous Aperol Spritzes! Beware of other hotels on the island that claim to be 5 stars. We saw them, there is no way… Also beware of hotels that are too high up where you would have 300 steps to access the beach. We even walked to Castello Aroganese which is only a 20 minutes walk. We’ve stayed in great 5 star hotels around the world, this one is quite memorable. Hope to go again!

Stayed for 4 nights. The welcome upon arrival was first class. The public areas of the hotel are excellent - beautifully furnished and well laid out. The pool area is very pleasant and relaxing. Our room was very spacious (incl separate walk-in wardrobe), and the lovely sea view from the balcony was worth the supplement. Staff are unfailingly polite and go out of their way to help ensure all guests are very happy. My wife said her spa treatment was really excellent. A full spread of cakes, pastries, fruit and cooked items is offered for breakfast and these were all very well prepared/cooked. We ate dinner 3 times in the hotel restaurant - the food was excellent each time (and the one dish my wife didn’t like (purely for personal taste reasons) was proactively replaced without any issue by the waiting staff, which impressed me). The dining room felt cavernous with quite harsh lighting, and the hotel adopts a VERY formal “fine dining“ approach throughout which some guests may find overly fussy (e.g. topping up your wine glass 8 times during a meal by a tiny amount each time, and staff eager to carry your self-selected plate of breakfast pastries to your table for you), but each to his own I suppose. Other things I’d change if I could: (i) the bath was extremely narrow, almost uncomfortably so, and (ii) the bedroom was decorated/furnished in a shabby-chic style, but would benefit from a fresh coat of paint and the addition of some nice wall pictures to it feel more chic/homely. However, I would not hesitate to return to this hotel if returning to beautiful Ischia, as it’s is a lovely oasis, well located on the island, with exceptionally high standards of customer service and the staff work so hard to make you feel like a really honoured guest.

The rooms, the pool, the spa areas--all are superb, as are the staff. In fact though we had a car, we didn't explore the island nearly as much as we wanted because the hotel was so amazing; we just wanted to enjoy the amenities. Three nights there was not enough for us. So we have to go back on our next Italy trip.

What can we say that has not been said before? The service was first class, regardless of the role of the staff, they were simply the most professional you could wish for. There was a fabulous atmosphere generated by the staff from the moment you walked in the Reception to the moment you left. A special mention goes to Enzo the head barman/sommelier and Giuseppe, plus Giuseppe the waiter and aspiring sommelier, plus Gino the wonderful pianist who entertained us for 4hrs, non-stop every night. The meals are first class and deserve a Michelin award! Finally the pride in the owners is clear, a wonderful hotel that has generated amazing memories and one we shall return to! Thank you!

What can I say other than this was our 5th visit!!!! A wonderful holiday, wonderful staff, wonderful food and a stunning situation! From the attentions of Guiseppe and Enzo to the newest staff members absolute service with care. We will return, thank you all for such a great time!

What an amazing place - fantastic service. We just got back from 3 nights here - it was great. A few notes below: Service - absolutely amazing - everyone was very nice and helpful. A great staff at this hotel. Room - clean and bigger than I thought it would be - was totally comfortable. Services: SPA - got a couples massage and it was great - wonderful experience Pools - both pools were really nice Beach - small but great - nice place to relax and get a meal/snack Overall the stay was amazing. One thing to note is that the resort is quiet - very quiet. It was exactly what I wanted, but I wouldn't go here to party.

Recently returned from our 1st visit to Ischia with a one week stay in September at the Excelsior. There was only one room available at the time of booking, a deluxe garden view room. I would have chosen a Seaview room if one had been available but actually we were very happy with our room on the 3rd floor. The room was a decent size, with a bathtub, plenty of hanging space and a private sunny terrace with table & chairs. What we loved the most is how quiet it was. Never heard any other guests or any noise during the night. Despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked you would never know it when you were lying by the pool. There were always plenty of loungers available and so there was never that horrid feeling of hotel guests all lying next to each other. (Many guests chose to be by the beach or on loungers positioned around the gardens). The outdoor pool was delightful and it was nice to swim everyday, having the whole pool to myself. The indoor pool looked good too but I never used it. We were blessed with 7 days of perfect weather. Lunch service at both the pool bar/restaurant and beach bar were excellent. We also had dinner twice in the hotel restaurant and dining on the hotel terrace is a lovely setting. I mainly chose this hotel for the location. It was an easy walk along the main street either to the port in one direction or to Aragonese Castle in the other. We both really enjoyed our stay. The only ****** perhaps is the fact there is only one person on the front desk. On 2 occasions we stopped by the desk with a quick question, only to find that another guest was in a lengthy discussion about a travel/tour matter so we stood around waiting and waiting.... and I feel that a 5 star hotel should have more than 1 person available. With the exception of the front desk, we were charmed by all the other hotel staff we encountered. We also enjoyed trying the various ischian wines that were recommended to us. Finally, I forgot to mention the wonderful pastries at breakfast. The central table was groaning with freshly baked cakes, pastries, fruit tarts & italian delicacies. Much restraint is required!
