"Our room had a balcony and looked out over the 2 pools, and had a sea view. The room was less equipped than we are used to. The mini bar was either locked or jammed shut. The air conditioning was similar to an asthmatic mouse blowing through a straw, there was no kettle or drinks making facilities, and dated 70s decor . The shower worked well. The room was large and clean. The few plugs were type C two pin. The waiting staff in the restaurant were excellent, English is not one of the most used languages in the hotel,so get used to the words you will need. Mostly German and Italian. It says it’s a no smoking hotel with no pets, we saw both pets and smokers. Would I go again, (I may not be welcome after this review) would I recommend, maybe."

"Great location, with the most friendly and attentive staff at reception, the outdoor pool bar, and at the morning breakfast area. Outdoor pool area was clean and not over crowded, the indoor spa pool was compact and most relaxing, with a fine range of spa services available, and which we used. Room was compact, clean, and did the job, nice size outdoor balcony over looking pool area which we had paid for / requested. Room was fully serviced on a daily basis (Grazie!)."

"BEWARE OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS: Before booking, we checked the special offers and some of the negative reviews discouraged us, but then we trusted the majority, which were more than positive. This three-star hotel certainly deserves more. We had read that it was a bit outdated, but we found it to be good and even partially renovated. The location is enchanting, next to the Aragonese Castle, with views of Procida, Vesuvius, the Sorrento coast, and Capri. It features a thermal park with whirlpools and waterfalls (ferrous water), surrounded by greenery, well-kept gardens, and access to the sea via about fifty steps. Umbrellas and loungers are available on the sand and on the deck equipped with a ladder leading to the sea, with a medium-shallow seabed and wonderful waters. Good food and excellent service, thanks to Simona and Rosalba. The elderly owners, Gabriele and Rosa, are very friendly and helpful, and also recommended several excursions. IN END, WE RECOMMEND IT!"

"I was visiting cousins in Ischia and this was my third visit to the island. The staff in the restaurant was super sweet. The breakfast and dinner were both tasty. The room was cleaned each day. The front desk staff was helpful until they told me I had to pay for several items in cash such as the massages, the overpriced laundry, a visit from their on site doctor when I was ill, and the taxi drivers, that claimed they did not accept cards. I said my bank does not allow me to take out more than a small amount per day and they insisted I go to my ATM every day until I had the cash they demanded. Upon checkout at 5am, they were insisting that I pay for the items in cash and I told them never in my life has a hotel requested this and I wanted to charge everything on my card. This, by the way, is the law in Italy. Businesses must accept credit cards!! To avoid missing my taxi to the port at 5am, I paid them for the items in cash. My Taxi driver was paid by my uncle in Ischia who was worried I would be taken advantage of by the many taxi driver crooks who claim they don't take cards and then overcharge in cash. This hotel disappointed me because I feel they were contributing to the dishonesty of some Italians towards tourists. The room was average without any toiletries, only local channels on a tiny TV available, and the pool forced us to wear swim caps like we were out of a 60s film. Water bottles were 4 euros each and they would not offer us tap water anywhere except from our bathroom sink. The hotel itself is a maze. In short, it's a hotel if you want a modest stay in a hotel for an older population, close to the port. And beware...Refuse to pay for anything in cash. Again, they were breaking the law as do many taxi drivers and business owners do in Italy!"

"The check-in process was quick and welcoming, and the complimentary gifts for special occasions were a sweet touch. Our room was conveniently located near the common areas, but being on the ground floor, it was damp and had noticeable odors coming from the kitchen. Beach towels, however, are not included and come at an extra cost. On the day of check-out, there is a €30 fee per person to continue using the facilities after 11:00 AM. Lunch offerings were below the island average. The beach isn’t too far, but there aren’t enough sun loungers or space, and no umbrellas are provided. On the day of departure, we were offered a taxi to the ferry port, but it turned out not to be a licensed taxi and charged us €20. Be prepared if you would like to enjoy the hotel after 11:00 AM to pay extra total 80 Euro including transfer."

"A traditional style hotel only a block from Ischia Porto. Room had a small terrace overlooking the pool & garden. Buffet breakfast served in the dining room. Rooftop area with tables & chairs & solarium. Check in was easy as reception is always manned."

Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & Spa

"We read the reviews from previous guests and were a little dubious about how good they were - there was no need to doubt them. The staff were as attentive and helpful as in any hotel we have stayed in; when I took an empty glass back to the poolside bar I was told that I should let them do that next time, as I was on holiday! It really did feel as though all of the team believed that i.e. we were on holiday, and should be looked after accordingly. Well done to everyone at the Excelsior Belvedere, fantastic hotel and excellent staff. The pool area was lovely - so great to see a 'no reserving the sunbeds' rule being observed! The dining room is gorgeous (breakfasts are fantastic), the lounge/bar area very relaxing (with a pianist every evening), and the room was lovely. My only complaint? Those darn mosquitos, they did like to bite in the evenings but thanks to the reception team who gave us a plug-in mosquito repellent for the room."
