It was amazing...kind staff, clean rooms, great location, breakfast is very nice. Would go there again if i visit Lille again. Easy to walk to the shops and restaurants, bars. I would recommend this place to everyone.

We spent two nights in Lille at the Clarance almost as an afterthought as part of our trip to Amsterdam. Those two days ended up being among the highlights of our vacation. The Clarance was a delightful place to stay. The staff were all friendly and helpful, speaking enough English that we could communicate well. We loved the 5 course dinner at the restaurant. It was fresh and inventive without being flashy.

I was told since the hotel is old there is not air conditioning! No disclosure of that on their web site. I am adding photos of the current condition as of August 2023 of my room. My travel agent made the reservation in February 2023 hence the staff had plenty of time to make deferred maintenance improvements. The actual hotel condition does not resemble the web site photos. I was told by their employee Aurelie Vermesse I could have asked for another room after I contacted Relais & Chateaux corporate. However the property was sold out for a private party when I was there. Why would they rent this privilege room in this condition?

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. fantastic location, lovely room and such helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast in the beautiful garden is a must, and what a choice there was.All freshly prepared at the hotel, and beautifully presented. I would without hesitation, recommend this hotel, and hope to return.

A boutique hôtel. The location is excellent. Friendly staff. Rooms are OK, not great and the restaurant IMO is overrated and too provincial. But as I said, the staff is excellent, they were very accommodating and let me have a late checkout with no problem. I would love to see an upgrade of the terrace and dining area, give the chef more leeway with less chi-chi. It’s a nice place that just needs some fine tuning. Good wine list, breakfast to your room included.

This is a great hotel in a fabulous location. Great staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are magical and the hotel offers peace and tranquility. The breakfast is beautifully prepared and local produce is offered.

Terrible experience. Wooden sticks instead of spoons on the coffee/tea tray, more suited to McDonalds! No storage space at all in the room, just one shelf. Tiny table, no room for a laptop etc. Dark, gloomy room. We wrote to say my husband walks with a cane, so needed to be accessible. They assume that metal ramps (for wheelchairs) suffice, however without handrails a walking stick user has difficulty using them. 2 steps to the bar, no handrail... We were given a "disabled" room which was a joke. Only one handle next to the WC and the shower seat....not useful when paralysed on the wrong side! Tea/coffee facility unreachable for anyone in a wheelchair, ditto the one and only shelf. One member of staff was very helpful (she showed me their other handicapped room, which was equally unsuitable though brighter). Other staff indifferent. They didn't even clear 2 dirty glasses and a bowl of (stale, inedible) nuts from the room in the 2 days we were there. Nothing about this hotel is 5 star. Even the handicapped parking space I had reserved (30 euros a night) had a car parked there, probably because the wheelchair symbol was tiny and obscured by a plant. Disgraceful place. Avoid at all costs.
