I arrived at BWI at around 11:40pm and rushed to call the shuttle from the hotel as they informed me earlier that if I didn't call by midnight, I'd be on my own to get a ride to the hotel. I was stressing as it was the first time I ever traveled alone. I called them at 11:50pm whew!! but plenty of time before 12:00am. So I thought, first they put me on hold... then hung up, next call... No answer and hung up. Now I'm spazzing. Finally a shuttle will be there in ...15-20 mins huhhhh?? so there i am standing alone at midnight by myself ( a 55 yr old woman) half hour goes by... I call hotel again and not easy for someone to answer. Oh the shuttle got full I was told so they have to send another one, REALLY so another 15 mins go by no shuttle, half hour later, I see the shuttle, here it comes....and flys right by me as I'm screaming STOP!! around she goes, 10 mins later she's finally here at 1:15am and then says she's been there. they told her DOOR 15 I said I was at LOCATION 15. Mad before I even got to hotel, once there..a cooler full of sodas to buy and not one DIET soda..I'm going to bed. No blanket? just sheets I was cold so I went to front desk to ask for a blanket, Sorry their locked up, heres some more sheets. In all fairness they looked to be very short staffed. and the room was clean but not worth the price

You know that experience when you notice something wrong with a hotel room and you think, ”Oh, that's no big deal, I can live with it,” so you unpack and get settled? But then you notice another flaw, and another, and another. That's what happened to our family at this hotel. I noticed the chip in the enamel on the bathtub right away, then later the hole in the wall by the towel rack that was never repaired, then the missing bar on the security door lock, and finally the lack of a stopper for the bathtub drain (this time I went down to the front desk to get one, none available, was told to use a washcloth). Are all the rooms like this? Not willing to take a chance, will go to a different hotel the next time we need to stay near BWI.

I am not one person to leave a review. However, I am less than pleased. The room is covered in dust. It took over four hours to cool the room down. The king size bed sags in the middle and is extremely uncomfortable. I absolutely do not feel clean in this room. The fitness center is absolutely disgusting. The thermostat in the fitness center is held on by scotch tape and it is overwhelmingly hot in there. The machines have clearly not been cleaned in a while and there are machines that have clear evidence of heavy sweat left on them. I recommend saving a few dollars by choosing another hotel nearby. There is nothing worth the price tag of this stay.

Booked a room for one night on July 2 - hoping for a clean place for my family of four to sleep before early travel from BWI the next morning. This property fell short of expectations. Check in lacked hospitality. There was no Front Desk agent at the desk when we walked in to the lobby. One came out when he heard our voices in the lobby. No greeting - he just asked for my name and to validate the last four digits of my credit card for the booking. Didn't check my ID before handing my keys over. We were given an accessible, pet friendly room on the first floor, even though none of us require accessibility options, and were not traveling with any pets. As soon as we opened the door, my husband commented that the room smelled like a kennel. You could definitely tell that previous guests had stayed with their pets in the room. If you have respiratory issues I recommend avoiding any of the pet friendly rooms at this location - the smell was so overpowering that it was hard to breathe and sleep comfortably. Save for when I was sleeping, I wore my flip flops the entire time I was in the room. The carpet carried the pet urine smell, particularly in the main area. There was a scent of carpet cleaner overlaying the stench, hinting that they may have tried clean the carpet -- lots of foreign substances on the floor that I did not want touching my bare feet. Last, the accessible room was not a good option for a family traveling with two kids 7 and under. The bathroom layout does not include a walled in shower or bathtub. The shower has a chair for mobility impaired guests. However, this makes it so the entire bathroom floor gets wet when you use it, making it very very easy to slip and fall. Our youngest slipped and fell when he was making his way out of the bathroom. Thankfully he was walking slowly -- but had he been running, he could have experienced a bad fall. The one star is for the location -- we could not get out of there fast enough, and left for the airport at 4:30 in the morning. The property is a 10 minute drive to BWI.

This hotel is conveniently located across from Live ****** which is great. They are clearly short staffed - there is no daily housekeeping and the bar was only open for one night as their bartender did not show up for his shift the next night. The check in line was long, only one woman working, but she never lost her smile and made it a pleasant experience. In fact, everyone we encountered was very nice. The room was average, weird layout and no microwave. The bathroom was gross. The showerhead leaked so there was a puddle of water in the shower when we got in. Then the seal on the door was broken so water leaked out everywhere. The wallpaper was torn and there was evidence of mold

Customer Service with a smile. From the moment the shuttle picked me up, I was transported back to a time where service was personal and positive. Lay, the driver welcomed me back to Baltimore and engaged in an lovely conversation taking us back to our DJ days in the Baltimore club circuits. Lay epitomized what excellent service is with a friendly, welcoming attitude. Upon my arrival, early am, my room was not ready as I arrived on a redeye from the west coast. Kawan, at the front desk, handled the situation like a champ, she offered me a complimentary breakfast voucher, while she finds an available room from the early checkouts. I grabbed a few breakfast items and before I even say down, Kawan appeared with my room keys, and a huge smile! Lay and Kawan restored my faith in excellent customer service and turned a day that had the potential to be difficult (Redeye, jetlag, schedule) into a great way to start my week on the east coast. Kudos to both!

This is an excellent property, far exceeding our expectations. Very nice King room, VERY clean throughout, and very comfortable. The whole property was neat and clean. Would/will stay again without a doubt. Kudos to the management and staff. The only small negative was related to the breakfast, thinking they need a new cook. The pork sausage on the morning we stayed was burned to a crisp. The nice ”singing staff person” who was manning the breakfast even brought out another pan of the links but they were as bad or even worse than the first. Come on, pick up your game there a bit please. The cinnamon rolls were fresh and hot and gooey just they way they should be. The coffee was hot and fresh. Overall a 5-star stay for which we were very thankful!

This hotel has no breakfast, $18. It doesn't matter, but the black waitress is a bit low.

While the rooms might have been a tad on the cozier side, they more than made up for it with their plush comfort and attention to detail. The Ulysses truly exemplifies the notion that beauty lies in the details, and the meticulousness with which they've curated every aspect of the guest experience speaks volumes. The 19th-century charm of the Mount Vernon neighborhood is beautifully echoed within the Ulysses. The delicate stained-glass skylight, the ornate crown molding, and the preserved brass postal box serve as a testament to the building's rich history. But it's not all vintage here. The interiors seamlessly transition from the ornate influences of the Art Nouveau era to a more streamlined approach, evident in the hickory wood furniture adorned with Ash’s custom textiles. And oh, those hand-beaded lampshades and embroidered quilts! They added the perfect splash of color and quirk. A special shout-out to the carved flamingos that support the bedside tables, a delightful nod to Baltimore's own John Waters and his ”Pink Flamingos.” It's this mix of opulence and eccentricity that makes the Ulysses stand out. Booking through Trip.com was a new experience for us. A bit unconventional, sure, but it came through in the clutch. The $35 ”destination fee” threw us for a loop initially, but the $20 credit we received towards our bill at the hotel restaurant (Ash Bar) or the bar (Blooms) made it all worth it. Speaking of Blooms, what an experience! The mirrored ceiling, the crimson banquettes, and the purple stools set the stage for a night to remember. In a nutshell? The Hotel Ulysses is a triumph, an ode to Baltimore's multifaceted spirit. Whether you're here for the history, the design, or the sheer experience, the Ulysses promises and delivers. Motel, hot water at the front desk, check-in and check-out are quicker, there is a washing machine dryer on the third floor, you can change coins at the front desk, very convenient. The toilet is small, the staff is mixed, but it is basically safe, just stay in the room.
