"Better than expected overall. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable, though the thin walls make it quite noisy. The place is dated but has a nice rustic charm. Rooms are small—fine for three people with backpacks, but tight with larger luggage. The kitchen/lounge is well equipped, though bathrooms are limited (two toilets and two showers). Great location for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, with shuttle pick-up right outside. Limited nearby options, so bring food or eat at the on-site restaurant, which serves generous, tasty meals. Sauna is a nice bonus."

"Lovely cosy & clean room. The host Scott was very welcoming and showed us around the property. We were new to the area, so Scott advised us on some trails and walks we could do in the area. We had use of the hot tub which we enjoyed listening to the river that runs through the back of the property. Nice continental breakfast was available in the room to enjoy inside or out on the deck area. The town had cafes, supermarket and restaurants."

"we had one night stay with this lovely cozy lodge, and we wish we could stay for longer. Great location and the host is really friendly, considerate and approachable. Alpaca onsite is such wonderful experience and the host would love to cut and prepare some carrot for alpaca feeding. A lodge you could easily feel at home, and all the details around every corner shows that the host put a lot of thoughts into it. We had great time and would definitely stay there any other time when we revisit tongariro!"
