Zenit Olhao Bed & Breakfast

Best hosts and place ever…….once you went there you need to come back! Also Olhão is a wonderful small city……we fell in love immediately! Very charming place! Rosie, Lourenço and Gino…..I hope we’ll see and hug each other this year once more! I do miss you! ♥️♥️

My host was one of the kindest people I've ever met! He was super helpful, he let me stay in a larger apar**ent than I had intended on and he made me feel completely at home. The price was excellent, it was close to everything, and the place was clean and comfortable.

We never actually got to stay at this property, on 18th September, which we booked back in May. 2 days before our stay I received an email from ***********, saying that Zenit said that the CVC number was missing from the credit card I’d booked with – this is the card that I’d booked all of our 3 week holiday with and which was in daily use, with no issues. I replied and updated using my wife’s card details, which was confirmed as accepted, by ***********. I then got exactly the same warning message from them, around an hour later. At this point I began to think that this was an internet scan and emailed Zenit directly, explaining my concerns and suggesting that I pay them cash on arrival. They replied the next day to say that this can be a software issue, saying that they looked forward to seeing me soon. The following afternoon I received yet another message from ***********, repeating the process of yesterday. Again, I updated it and they confirmed that this was successful. That evening, a Sunday, whilst preparing to go out for a meal, yet another, same, email and a following one, asking me to rate the *********** booking management service!!! Shortly afterwards, I got another message from Zenit, via ***********. Zenit suggested that their system now showed my booking as cancelled and advising me to check this carefully as there was another booking made for my room. At this point, frustrated and very angry, I emailed *********** and explained that I thought, as I was only staying with Zenit for one night, they had had a better offer and were trying to get out of their commi**ent to me. I didn’t receive a reply, so I then phoned ***********, in Holland and spoke to a helpful guy who said that he could see the huge number of emails over the past couple of days. He sympathised with our plight and said that he would sort something out and if the booking was cancelled, he would find us something else. He even said that if this more expensive, *********** would pay the difference. This was good news, but I’m afraid that I never heard from him again! I then called Zenit directly, on the Sunday evening and spoke to the owner. He sounded like he was concerned and promised to look into this and call me back – he didn’t! With nowhere to stay on the next/last day of our holiday, I cancelled the Zenit booking and managed to find a room elsewhere in Olhao, but this all left me feeling very bitter, very frustrated and ruined the last couple of days of our holiday. I certainly wouldn’t recommend Zenit, or ***********, for that matter.

This amazing guest house is a fabulous home away from home! Not only are the rooms extremely clean, they have all the facilities you require for a very comfortable stay. The location of the guest house is absolutely perfect, with everything right on your doorstep or a couple minutes walk away. The breakfast served each morning on the stunning roof terrace is absolutely delicious, 11/10! All fresh local produce and the serving very generous. The best part of this guest house are the amazing hosts, Gino and Rose. From the moment I was picked up from the airport I was given a very welcome by Gino and Rose was extremely helpful in providing me with recommendations for things to do and places to eat. They truly make you feel right at home and are so willing to give you their time to ensure you have the best stay possible. I've travelled the world solo and not often do I become so attached to a place in such a short period of time but I truly feel that Zenit Guest House is my Portugese home. Thank you for everything Gino and Rose, I already look forward to my next stay with you!

This property was absolutely lovely. We booked late on our night of arrival, past 11pm, and the owner, Gino, was waiting for us when we got there. Our room was cozy, and comfortable, but the star of the show were the three private balconies outside. Overlooking the sea, with a great view, glorious sunshine and comfortable sofas, it was the perfect way to end an evening, and start the day. Speaking of starting the day, Gino’s wife Rose provides a fresh breakfast in the morning you can take in the balconies, full of fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads, meats and cheeses, along with tea and coffee and the best orange juice you will have ever tried! All in all, it’s a fantastic place to stay, and brilliant value for money. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in the area, you won’t be disappointed!

A SCAM! Do not book this hotel/apar**ent. The pictures online ARE NOT what you will receive. They will deceive you and scam you. We were due to come for a birthday and I asked if they could add extras. They charged me €30 for a cake and balloons and a cheap bottle of kids fizz. It was horrendous. They booked our apar**ent to another guest and told us we would be in a different place. We paid not knowing what we would receive. We arrived at the accommodation and there aren’t even photos of the place we were given online because of how terrible it is. The wallpaper was ripping off the walls, the kitchen was dirty, it was freezing cold even with windows closed and heating on; the beds were uncomfortable, it was dark and dingy and next to a café full of drunk men starting fights. The locks were not secure, the area was extremely difficult to park and load/unload luggage. When we told them we were not happy and would like to leave they promised a full refund, I sent my details and no refund. Now they are refusing to refund me at all. I didn’t even stay one night because I left and found a much nicer accommodation in a better location for the same price. I would STAY FAR AWAY from this hotel. A scam and you will not be treated with the level of service you expect. Disgusting service and attitude. He kept telling us to just wait and it was our fault for purchasing an apar**ent built on top of water? False advertisement and you’ll end up with a case with trading standards.

We stayed here for 3 nights ( June 26th) We were originally scheduled for the corresponding week in 2020..& we all know what was occurring then. Everything went smoothly from the moment we were picked up from the airport by Gino, to our drop off on the 29th... Fabulous hosts.. quirky room.. awesome rooftop terrace & last but not least.. Rose's breakfast . Needless to say we shall return .. Top Tip... book directly with Rose & Gino..

Le gérant a loué notre chambre à d'autres personnes et nous a avertis au dernier moment . Nous étions furieux, d autant plus qu'il a voulu nous reloger dans un endroit pourri !!! À moins que les photos sur le site ne soient pas sa propriété. À fuir !! Je ne recommande pas ce genre de personne !!!

Le positif : Gino et Rose sont des hôtes très sympathiques. Rose est très souriante, Gino parle plusieurs langues. Le petit plus de venir nous chercher à l'aéroport. Le petit déjeuner était copieux, et très bon. L'emplacement du logement est top également. Le négatif : Propreté du studio, peut mieux faire par rapport aux chambres proposées. Un 'rafraichissement' et une touche de modernité seront les bienvenus par la suite !
