"I stayed at a long-established inn on the 4th floor. It was inconvenient to have to take the stairs to get to the second floor. There are some rooms that can be accessed by elevator from the first floor. The amenities are single-use items, so if you are particular about quantity and quality, you may want to bring your own. It's convenient as it's close to the nearest supermarket."

"Firstly, Izu Oshima doesn't have many tourist attractions overall. Most of the people I saw were middle-aged and elderly people hiking. Even on weekdays during the Camellia Festival, there weren't many tourists. I personally think the high cost of the steamboat ticket (9200 yen one way) is one reason. Secondly, the hotel is located in Motomachi Port, which recently stops at Okada Port. It takes another half hour by bus to get there. The hotel is quite old. The receptionist was an elderly gentleman, probably almost 90, but he was clear-headed and spoke basic English without any problems. The hot spring bath was rather small, and the breakfast was traditional Japanese. I probably won't go back to this destination again. Public transportation on the island is also quite expensive; a one-way trip to the volcano costs over 1000 yen, and a one-day pass seems to be 2050 yen. I went to Oshima Park, which is free, which is a good thing. It includes the Camellia Garden and the zoo, but the camellias weren't as abundant as I expected; the ones in the greenhouse were better."

"It is located in the center of the harbor in a location that is not remote, so you can spend your time with peace of mind without inconvenience. The interior and scenery are really nice. Especially the bath while watching the sunset and morning scenery is the best! Amenity and daily necessities are perfect and you can spend your time comfortably. There is a good thing that cannot be conveyed in the photo, so please actually enjoy it locally!"

Shima No Yado Kon

"I was originally planning to visit Hachijojima, but my flight was canceled on the day of departure, so I ended up heading to Izu Oshima instead. Looking for a place to stay at the last minute, I found KON and booked it based on its excellent reviews. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was outstanding. The owner picked me up at the port with a sign, shared information about the island during the drive, and even stopped at scenic spots so I could take photos. I stayed in the main building, and the room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The tatami mats had recently been replaced, giving the room a wonderful fresh scent. The property was well-maintained, well-equipped, and had a nostalgic countryside atmosphere that made it easy to relax. There are several restaurants nearby, including a great ramen shop and a sushi restaurant called Minato sushi by the harbor that I highly recommend. One unexpected highlight was discovering the manga in the room. The title was Kore Kaite Shine, which is set on Izu Oshima. I learned that the author often stays at KON, and the protagonist’s home was reportedly modeled after the guesthouse itself. What started as an unexpected change of plans turned into a fantastic stay. The warm hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and unique local charm made this a memorable experience. I would gladly stay at KON again on my next visit to Izu Oshima."

Oshima Hot Spa Hotel ★★★

"Good points: View from the open-air bath. Shuttle bus to the port (not surprising, since there are no local buses on weekdays!). Bad points: Wi-Fi - useless in the room. Room - renovated bed room, but no good in many ways. Room is spacious, but too much wasted space. Bed... electric bed. It's probably expensive, but pointless. Nice washroom... but like the washroom in a service area, when you put your hand over it, water trickles... you can't adjust it, you can only fill the pot in the room in the bathroom, and the structure means you can't fill the aquarium with water. Food - sashimi... we ordered separately, but it was awful. I've never had such bad sashimi before, it was full of strings and couldn't be chewed, and it had no freshness at all, so we skewered it and fried it. Rice - bad. Staff response - I know they're trying their best, but they're not used to it, they don't know what to do. Is the food here catered? Are there no cooks in the kitchen? Large public bath: Old and not well maintained. Only the view from the open-air bath is good. Smoking area: Only outside the building. Isn't that a problem in terms of crime prevention?"
