Paignton South (Brixham Road)

The hotel was just outside of Paignton with excellent bus services to most parts of South Devon. We had a friendly and efficient reception and although we were not constantly bothered by staff, we always knew where to find them when we needed them. All of the staff were local so were a mine of information about the local area, bus services etc. we had our breakfast in the attached Beefeater and this was exceptionally well run by Nigel and his team, Saffron, Chloe and Agi. They remained cheerful and helpful even over the busy bank holiday and pirate festival. The food choices were excellent and everything was well stocked at all times and despite being very busy, there was always time for a friendly chat with the guests.

We were booked to be stay at an air b and b close by, but the property was so damp that it prompted an asthma attack for a member of our party. We had to move out late on the first night. It was very stressful, but Stephen who was on the night shift at the premiere inn could not have been more helpful. He helped us find a taxi to get across town, and greeted us warmly when we arrived at nearly midnight. We had special room requirements, as one of our group members has Autism. He couldn't have been more understanding about this and put us at ease. He saved the day and made our trip possible. He is a star.

The staff were very helpful when we phoned to explain that we were going to be very late arriving at the hotel.

We are regular users of Premier inns. The plus points of this one are the staff. They work very hard and are polite. . The breakfast is the best we have had from Premier inns, lots of choice and it was nice and hot with covers over the food. The breakfast waitress was so good. Evening meal was also ok. But very short staffed. Our room was clean and comfortable. The downside of this hotel was that it needs a good few tins of paint on the outside of the building to make it look more presentable and welcoming. And the bathroom also need upgrading as it looked shabby. If you could sort this it would match the other good standards that are in place . A brilliant position to visit resorts.

We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting the area. The hotel is within easy reach of Kingswear, Dartmouth and various National Trust Properties. The room was exceptionally clean and we had a good nights sleep, just as you’d expect. We had the meal deal and ate at the adjacent Beefeater. Everything was good there too. You can’t beat Premier Inn, great value for money and always in a good location.

First time back to this area for many years booked a 1 night stay at this premier inn. Usual perks comfy bed TV etc. Just to note the window's do not open, beefeater next to the premier inn and parking. Situated near some retail outlets. Good experience

Plus side, comfy bed, clean excellent location. Negatives tea and coffee in room was like portion control not enough and not able to select what you need from reception so have to ask, not always anyone there. Booked to have room serviced every day, second day didn't happen, new system blamed! The day we got there only one bath towel and one hand towel. Seemed to be a shortage of hand towels the entire week often only had one. Reception staff ok, could have been a lot more friendly and helpful.

Used as a base for walking this beautiful part of Devon. Chose this one as had free parking and good location. A good choice for us as we left the car most days in car park and there was plenty of spaces so we could leave it out the way. Nice rooms, I liked the walk in shower. Comfortable clean room, friendly staff. Breakfast very good cooked to order sometimes otherwise buffet style. However cooked well regardless. Had supplier problems so no decaffeinated coffee throughout stay and no Orange juice on last morning but apart from that pretty good overall. I would return.

On arrival the room was very clean as was the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The only downside was the room being very cold and the aircon not responding to the controls. On mentioning this at reception it appears that they have control over it. The receptionist came back and said it should be ok now, sorry but it was set to cool….! In February. That evening and the next day it worked fine. The Beefeater next door was very good with good service and reasonably priced meals.
