"Spacious with four bedrooms (1 being tatami room). The location was convenient and Karuizawa is a lovely town. The breakfast was good. Fresh bread and juice etc. Hotpot dinner included meal cuts like bacon not very suitable for shabu shabu) and the pot used was tiny for our group, we had to take turns to boil food. Could be improved."

"Location: Near to Karuizawa train station (approximately 15 min walk to hotel west) and 10min walk to shopping mall. 5 min shuttle bus to reach ski area. Room: Clean and comfortable. But the bath powder is like toilet detergent scent. Amenities: there is Family mart operates until 11pm in hotel west. Service: Front desk lady can’t really speak English and hard to communicate. The man at cloakroom is unfriendly. Shuttle bus service: Shuttle bus service provided within the shopping area, hotel east and west. However, the instruction is unclear to us. When we queued up for the bus to station, the hotel staff did not inform us the bus was here and to align the bus but just change the next bus arrival timing. Until entire lane of the guests missed the bus. We had to walk all the way to station with our huge luggage. Snow Park: No clear direction or sign board to go snow park from hotel east. The snow park area is kinda small and suitable for young kid (below 7 years old). It is boring for kid above 7 years old."

"I was worried of the quality due to how cheap the booking was. But I was genuinely surprised how neat the building, lobby, rooms and bathrooms were when we got there. The place was convenient and close to the Outlet and convenience stores (by car) I like how comfort inn is very modern too as they have menu/further info that you can access via QR code once you are in the room. Even if you also place do not disturb on your door, you will still receive fresh towels/linens outside your door. Overall it was a pleasant stay. For those wondering, the front desk is 24/7, so you can check out as early as 3am. The only sad thing is I couldn’t bring my pet. I hope they can lift that policy in the future. I would definitely recommend this place to others."

"Excellent stay all round. -parking on site and readily available - good breakfast with lots of different options - fun and free drinks and snacks hour from 2115 to 2230 every night. Includes self serve alcoholic drinks, ice cream, popcorn etc - clean rooms with excellent amenities and free toothbrushes, razors, face towels, bath salts etc. - smart room layout despite usual japanese small size - free bike hire which we made use of every day - excellent customer service. Very friendly, patient and helpful Would 100% recommend staying here and would come back in a heartbeat."

"The hotel is located quite far from Karuizawa JR station. There is a pickup bus service every half an hour outside the south exit of the station. However the bus is very small and can be quite full at times, causing people to rush onto the bus. It would be better if the hotel could set up a better queue-up system or adjust the frequency of the pickup bus service. By the way you can deposit luggage at the customer centre next to the pickup bus stop and have them transferred to the hotel for you. I thought the hotel did not advertise the service enough as it is very useful and effective in creating more passenger space in the pickup bus. Breakfast at the hotel is not buffet style, so went to the Prince Karuizawa West hotel to have breakfast instead. During non-peak hours the hotel offers individual transportation for free so that is definitely a plus. The Momiji hot spring is definitely a must-visit. Clean, modern, hygienic, exactly what I look for in a hot spring. Overall service is excellent."

"I chosen Cottage A to stay in. While there is nothing much to complain about the cute cottage, personally it is a bit too small for me. But nice environment, good and helpful staff and a very convenient shuttle system to bring you around. You can also call an internal shuttle service that can ferry you from your cottage to the newer West hotel for their buffet breakfast. Otherwise you can eat at the East Hotel for either a Japanese meal set breakfast or a Western style set breakfast. The bread is really good and soft. The outlet shopping mall is accessed by their half hourly shuttle bus and you can do your premium shopping there and eat at their various restaurants or at their food court style food outlets."

"急遽決めた軽井沢旅行にこちらのホテルに宿泊させて頂きました。 お部屋にお風呂もあり広く快適でした。 私は大浴場や露天風呂がとても気に入りました。 今回お食事無しで予約しましたが、男性のスタッフの方が丁寧に館内やお食事のご案内をして下さいました。 旧軽井沢銀座通りには、人気なお蕎麦屋さん、パン屋さんなどがあり食事はそちらでと決めていたので、こちらのホテルから徒歩圏内である事も宿泊の決め手となりました。 外観も素敵なホテルでお部屋の内装も女性好みだと感じました。 小さなホテルなので騒がしくなく、エレベーターなども混雑する事も無く快適でした。 また利用したいと思えるホテルですが………… ひとつ残念なのは、チェックアウトで対応された若い女性スタッフの方が、あまりにもぶっきらぼうな仕事ぶりで、笑顔ひとつ無く帰り際にとても残念な気持ちになりました。ただ淡々と業務をこなしているだけのサービス業には不向きな方でした。 もう少し男性スタッフの方を学ばれた方が良いと思います。"

"I stayed at this hotel with my wife and two children during a two-night trip to Karuizawa in early February. The hotel is around 100 years old and its claim to fame is that John Lennon has stayed there. The piano that he played on is still in the bar. Location: The hotel is near Old Ginza Street and around a 15-minutes drive from Karuizawa station. It was not difficult to find, but you must navigate a narrow approach to the hotel which is icy at this time of the year, so you must drive carefully. Cleaniness: The staff told me that the hotel was only recently and everything was very clean and in good condition. Service: The receptionist that conducted the check-in was probably the Japanese that spoke the best English that I had encountered on this trip. He spent a lot of time explaining the hotel to our family. The porter was also very helpful and polite. When we asked for extra toothbrushes and slippers for the children, housekeeping was very prompt in delivering them and even brought some children's robes for my sons. Facilities: The hotel did not have many facilities. There is a small shop, a bar and a french restaurant but not much else. Some rooms had private hot springs in them and they gave us the opportunity to upgrade. Our room, had a small balcony even though we were on the ground floor. It looked onto a wooded area so there was not much to see, especially at night. However, when it snowed the next morning, my kids loved going out and playing in the snow. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast. It was a simple American breakfast very well presented. It was very pleasurable to look out into the inner courtyard with it was snowing. Overall: I like this hotel as it has a lot of character. It is architecturally attractive and has kept a lot of its charm despite renovation. The staff are very professional and polite. I would stay in this hotel again."
