Nanzhao Courtyard Boutique Homestay (Weishan Ancient Town Gongchen Tower Branch) – A Quiet Courtyard in the Ancient Capital of Nanzhao
In the ancient town of Weishan — known as the "birthplace of the Nanzhao Kingdom" — Gongchen Tower stands tall, witnessing the passage of time. Our homestay is tucked away in a peaceful courtyard not far from the tower, offering a quiet retreat in the midst of the lively town, preserving the heritage of Nanzhao and providing travelers a place to deeply experience the cultural heart of Weishan Ancient Town.
Nanzhao is a traditional Chinese courtyard house with white walls, black tiles, and upward-curving eaves. Greenery and flowers are scattered throughout the courtyard, with stone paths winding between them. The courtyard is spacious enough for you to stroll, sit quietly, or simply daydream, letting the breeze of Nanzhao brush past you. The architecture reflects the wisdom of Weishan's Bai ethnic tradition — blue brick floors, wooden doors and windows, and carved beams and pillars — every detail exudes simplicity and elegance. The atmosphere here is calm and nurturing, just like Weishan itself: unhurried, yet with a thousand years of confidence behind it.
We offer a variety of room types, including king rooms, twin rooms, and family rooms, perfect for solo travelers or family trips. All rooms are equipped with high-quality linens, air conditioning, separate wet-and-dry bathrooms, and 24-hour constant hot water. There's no need to rush in the morning — the warm sunlight pours through the wooden lattice windows, filling the room. Pull back the curtains to see the square courtyard view, and you can lie in bed feeling completely at ease.
Weishan is a town best explored slowly. Its layout is orderly, with bluestone paths connecting landmarks such as Gongchen Tower, Xinggong Tower, Nanzhao Museum, Dengjue Temple, and the Confucian Temple. A few minutes' walk from our door brings you to Gongchen Tower, where you can look north and see rows of black-tiled houses blending with the distant mountains. A few more steps take you to the Nanzhao Museum, where you can wander through its corridors and listen to the stories of the ancient kingdom through precious artifacts. If you happen to be here on a Friday, follow the crowd to the local country market — Yi, Hui, and Bai villagers come with their baskets, selling mountain goods, herbs, and embroidered pieces, offering a vibrant taste of everyday local life.
We provide 24-hour butler service, always ready to answer your questions and recommend authentic sightseeing routes. We hope you will stay comfortably, explore joyfully, and eat well during your time in our courtyard. This square courtyard has sheltered the winds of Nanzhao for a thousand years, and we hope it can also shelter a moment of your journey. We look forward to meeting you in Weishan Ancient Town, and spending a slow, beautiful time together in the ancient capital of Nanzhao, beneath the white walls and black tiles.
"A very nice hotel and cozy like the homestay, the owner was very friendly and helpful, he gave us his e-motorbike without any fee even though we tried to give him some money back. It’s still quite new & modern facilities but Chinese traditional style decoration. Highly recommend this one. I recorded some traditional dance here as well"
