"This hotel setting is incredible however be prepared to walk for ages and take up to three lifts to get to your room! Reception is after the lift from the car park entrance and is manned by good friendly professional staff. Breakfast is up one floor from there and was ok without being exceptional. The second lift takes you further up the cliff(with lovely gardens) , across a walkway and onto the third lift to the room. The room was a good size, functional,as was the bathroom. Both could do with a little tlc. Two single beds, pushed together, made the double. They were firm but relatively comfortable. Porto do Sol is very nice with a great array of good restaurants. We ate twice at the Caprice ,which was excellent. Parking is in a small narrow car park and is not nearly enough for all the guest rooms. Roadside parking is also available but on a road frequented by large truck traffic, through the day. Finally the views across the ravine and down to the sea are what makes this hotel stand out as do the sunsets which were amazing."

"Absolutely fantastic! Perfect location, fabulous staff! Clean and modern rooms. Fresh and tasty breakfast. Free wifi ,free port at reception,which was a brilliant touch. Was lovely to watch the people go by,from the window and we could listen to the local music too. Everything was accessible within a minutes walk. We will be back! Right on the Main Street"

"Spent five days here as a couple.. just loved everything about it! Wonderful views, quiet, really clean & the most comfortable bed with top linen. Breakfast was spent on the patio and was just delicious. Such a great way to unwind and take in beautiful Madeira.. We ate in the restaurant two evenings & food was delicious. Drinks are so reasonably priced. But what made the stay so great was the wonderful staff, helpful & attentive :) Thank you… Be prepared for the hills, we enjoyed the walk down to the few local restaurants but it is a climb. Would definitely recommend & hope to return x"

"I arrived early in the morning and my room was already ready. They have private parking, which is much appreciated in that area as it's usually quite busy with cars along the beach. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. They have a gym, a rooftop terrace, and on the ground floor, a sauna, hammam, and pool. I found it a bit odd that it was next to reception, but once you're there, you hardly notice other guests coming and going. I would have liked to see water in the room's refrigerator or a water fountain in reception. The mini-fridge wasn't very cold. The bedrooms have air conditioning. The location is right on the beach and perfect for watching sunsets."

"Insane location, very humble and caring service and incredible parties on fridays, with a DJ performing on top of the hotels 100 meter cliff over the sea!! The restaurant is also really good quality and the reception is there for you through the night. We had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night and they helped us greatly and even picked us up there at 4 in the morning! Lovely staff and thank you so much"
