Occidental Boa Vista Beach ★★★★
"Overall, it was a nice and welcoming hotel, but it didn't start off well. Was told on arrival ( only 10 minutes away from the airport ) that I had missed lunchtime sitting, but wasn't told food was available elsewhere, so I had to wait till evening the meal. Was given my room number and keys and off I went to find my room. On finding my room, I found the electric card to be too big for the electric slot, so a trip back to reception for another card. Back to my room only to find, tv and AC remotes didn't work. Quick look at the remote controls to find springs in remotes were rusty. I did a quick clean of both, and both started working. Unpacked, went to put items into the safe, only to find that not working. Didn't bother going back to reception , couldn't be bothered so did the whole week without a safe, but I'm sure it would have been looked at, but by that time I just wanted to chill. Overall, the room was okay but showing its age. Nice hot shower and comfortable bed and linen. Be mindful , most of the paths are cobbled stone, so if you're not too good on your legs, be careful. You have to be early to get a sunbed round the pool and also the same for on the beach. The pool was clean, and I've never seen a pool be cleaned so much in my life. Only stopped around the pool on the first day, as I found it to noisy all day for my liking. Actives going off in the daytime and music being played all day. Spent a rest of the time on the beach. Lifeguards are on duty all day. Red flagged all day as the sea is so strong, be aware. I couldn't fault the food, with plenty of hot and cold food served breakfast, lunchtime, and dinner. Help yourself to soft drinks, water, beer, and wine at lunch and dinner in the restaurant. Fresh pizzas were made on site, which was nice to see. Beware of the wild cats, if you're sitting outside who will watch every mouthfull of food you have. All staff were amazing, front front of house, to back of house staff. WiFi is not the best, and you will only get good service if you're next to the repection, everywhere else is hit and miss. Amazing sunsets every night. Couldn't fault the alcohol saying it was all-inclusive. Would I go again? Definitely not a no, but price would have to be competitive."

"Fantastic experience - location, amenities, staff. We had a few minor issues with the room, all of which were resolved promptly once we reported them. We only ate in the main buffet restaurant - Africa. The staff were attentive, without being intrusive. We sat outside for breakfast, at the same table each day, and the staff very quickly recognised our usual habits, responding without being prompted after just a couple of days. It was the same for lunch and dinner, where we sat inside. Even though the staff were on rotation, they quickly recognised what we had to drink at each meal time and what additional cutlery we needed. Even to the point where by the last few days of our stay they had set our table in advance of us coming to eat. I can only reiterate the excellent service given by the restaurant staff, whichever shift team were in attendance. The room was in good condition, clean and perfect for our needs. Cleaned everyday, always to a high standard, with fresh towels every time - which was important, as we showered around 3 times a day."

"We booked the accommodation in March 2024 for October (11 days/ €2.200) directly at Cristina (holder). A deposit of €1.100 had to be made in March. The process of booking a house was very complicated and chaotic (no information about receiving the deposit) - had to give us thought. At arrival we were informed that there is a good and a bad news. The good news was a “summing upgrade” into a larger house where a pipe break in the second bedroom/bathroom had happened. We were promised that the bathroom will be repaired within 2 days. Then we sleeped as a three-headed family in A bedroom and my 8-j old daughter was on an old mattress without bed. (additional cost €50 per day!!!) Daily there was noise and fine dust from the renovation and then on day 7 the bathroom was finally renovated. The house #9 or “upgrade” is habited with old devout furniture, curved mattresses, used floors and a muddled shower where the purt breaks from the walls, compared to our own booked house #23b which modern, Well furnished and clean, but has now been given to a spontaneous booking. Concluded: We were forced to leave after 7 days, no alternative was offered. neither the 4 unused nights (€800) nor the rebooking cost (€790) they were repaid. There was only a “small” compensation - dinner (€80) and minibar at home. On the day of departure, the owner Cristina did not look and did not send any excuse to this day. The location of the house directly on the beach is beautiful but this does not weigh the entire negative points of the house, the facility and the behavior of the owner."

"First, the positives: the location is amazing. The pool area is fantastic, and the views are breathtaking. The design, architecture, and landscaping are wonderful. There is plenty of food available. The rooms are spacious and the beds are quite large. Now the negatives: although food is plentiful, the quality is very poor. Our 18-month-old baby could not eat anything offered at the hotel—nothing suited him, and he was not alone in this. We did not like the food either. The worst thing about this hotel is the noise level. Oh my God! The entertainment team did everything in their power to create unnecessary and extremely irritating noise. Our room was close to the pool, and they played extremely loud music every single night until midnight. Our baby woke up startled several times. I called reception on many occasions and even spoke to the staff in person, but they were not interested in resolving the issue. They kept claiming that the parties should be by the beach, which apparently they were not. I also found some of the reception staff dismissive. When we arrived, two staff members told us our room was not ready, even though it was already after 3 pm. I explained that we had just completed a six-hour flight with an 18-month-old baby, and only after that did a third staff member provide us with the room. On our departure day, I asked for a two-hour late check-out (1 pm instead of 11 am), and I was happy to pay for it, but again the reception staff were dismissive and unhelpful. The bathrooms are very dated and have an unpleasant smell. All the bathrooms need renovation and redecoration."
