This past summer we returned to Badrutts Palace for our fourth time. In the past we had a wonderful time there and therefore were excited to return . Unfortunately we were not happy with our stay there. To start when we checked in with a confirmation from American express with the nightly price in US dollars we were told they would not honor it and charged us in Swiss francs instead-$130 more per night. At a cost of over $950 a night for a room in the summertime (Not peak season), we were given a tiny room which required an elevator then a walk down a long hallway and then a flight of stairs up to our room. Besides it being an extremely small room there was little storage requiring the use of luggage rack. With the luggage rack in place we could barely get by the bed causing me to trip over the bedspread when trying to get over to the window. We did request another room and were told if we were interested in an upgrade -which we were , we would be charged another $500/day which was over the going rate for that room. While I requested repeatedly to speak to the manager he only was available the day we checked out to speak to me at which point he took one day off our bill. He did reassure me he would take care of us upon our return, I just contacted him and his response did all possible to discourage us from returning (his response after listing some issues, "it might be challenging for us to provide the experience you are looking for. However, if you choose to stay with us again....) .!!!! Also be aware the "redone rooms" are done inexpensively on par with a 3 star not five star hotel.
