Great welcome from a very knowledgeable host, combined with a masterclass cognac session.. Unfortunate not to get a room with the great views of the vineyards and unsure why this was the case as there appeared to be only one other couple staying. Our room was spacious and comfortable, although the stock photo and descriptions on the web site could lead to disappointment (no toiletries and no in room music/hifi) although this didn't affect our 1 night stay. Also unsure where the soft drink mini bar was located as indicated on the website. Website also needs to be updated as it has confusing information with regards what is included in the dinner option. For example Dinner within the website states: ”Dinner is served every day by reservation Adult The set menu includes 1 aperitif (choice between liquor of cognacs, cognac, pineau...) 3 dishes, local wine, coffee.” This is not the case. drinks are not included, and although it is mentioned on the tariff page it could missed and easily lead to disappointment and embarrassment at check out. The home cooked (with local ingredients) dinner in a stunning outside setting was lovely and tasty and knowledgeable conversation with Christine (who has fluent English) flowed as easy as the wine. Breakfast was a little disappointing during our stay and did not match reviews that we had previously read. It included a small breakfast roll, two confitures and butter. Fromage blanc (similar to yoghurt) and banana ( fruit option), although the Broyé du Poitou made up for a lack of croissants or pain au chocolate on offer during our stay. In summary, we enjoyed our day/evening combined with a cognac masterclass and tasting given by Christine's very knowledgeable husband. We would certainly consider returning if in the area again.

I can not even sure where to begin in listing my praises for Chais Monnet. We just returned from a 3 week visit to France which included time in Cognac and Bordeaux. If only we could have spent all our time at Chais Monnet our trip would have been absolute heaven. The property itself is outstanding, modern and yet with a hint to preserving the past in a thoughtful and respectful way. Our room was beyond comfortable, the bed dreamy. i most appreciated the separate water closet with its own sink, a lovely and thoughtful arrangement. The entire property was spotless and attention to detail seemed to be projected at every corner. I am so surprised to see negative comments related to the staff because our experience was the exact opposite of that. Ellie in guest relations went above and beyond to prepare things for our visit, arranging special birthday celebrations for our traveling companion, making dinner recommendations and reservations, and leaving a personal note thanking us for staying. My only regret was I did not get to meet her in person to thank her, she was on holiday during our visit (well deserved Ellie). All the staff from the breakfast crew to the rooftop bar were friendly and amazingly eager to meet your requests. The bar staff was delightful and we enjoyed several evenings in the Jazz House and at the Rooftop bar enjoying cocktails and excellent and informative conversation. The Spa services were professional and spot on and pool, oh the glorious pool. We spent an entire day enjoying spa services and the pool with consistent but discreet food and bar service. I cannot find enough adjectives to adequately communicate our level of satisfaction. We felt welcomed, taken care of, and appreciated, no one was stuffy or overbearing. The five star designation is well deserved and in the future when I return to this area of France the only place I will consider staying is Chais Monnet. Travail bien fait!!! Absolutely loved our stay here. All staff were happy and friendly and it feels as though everything is cared about from the cleaning, general look of the place and furnishings to the breakfast. The location is excellent, we parked the car opposite the hotel on the Friday evening when we arrived and didn’t use it again until we left on the Sunday morning. Perfect in every way.

I stayed at Hotel Francois Premier recently for over a week while on business with several colleagues. The hotel is in an excellent location on the main square of Cognac city center. The hotel is beautiful and very well maintained. Front staff were very friendly and attentive. My room was a nice size, fully equipped and had 2 nice windows. What I liked - Very comfortable bed - Super efficient AirCon - Very quiet - Kettle - Great bathroom with rain shower - Breakfast was high quality with many choices and excellent scrambled eggs - Umbrellas to borrow To Improve - The hotel WiFi for the rooms was broken for the entire time of my stay. My colleagues informed me it was broken for a few weeks - Our entire team ending up purchasing SIM cards with large data included to be able to work from our rooms - No one at the hotel ever reached out to me to offer any kind of compensation for the WiFi situation NOTE: There is limited hotel indoor parking for a fee, but free outdoor parking is very close by

Ibis Cognac is a great example of a typical Ibis hotel. No frills , reasonably priced with everything we needed for an overnight stay on our road trip to Spain. The bed was comfortable, the facilities clean and the wifi was good. Breakfast offered a great selection and they even provided paper bags for people to take stuff away with them . It was well placed to explore Cognac. We didn’t visit any of the brandy producers but there several within a few minutes of the hotel. There is free parking in the public car park opposite the hotel. Special mention should be given to Lucy on reception who went out of her way to be helpful. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Good location for visiting Cognac, Angoulême and environs. The hotel has views to the Charente river and beyond. You can visit the wild ”jardin respectueux” in front and reach the river on foot for pleasant promenades. The outdoor pool isn't heated, which would make it pleasant in the hotter months. In the price of the room, we were able to reserve an hour-long slot per day for the little spa with its hammam, sauna and jacuzzi. It could do with a revamp, as could the rooms, but the communal areas seem to have been renovated more recently. The set dinner menu at 33€ was excellent and the service from Thomas and his team was very good. The buffet breakfast was copious and was made up of a great deal of local, organic produce. High five for the scrambled eggs, which must have been made the traditional way over a bain-marie.

A perfect stay of 2 nights. The staff could not have been more pleasant or accommodating. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was also well equipped and spacious. A full breakfast was included in the room price. The pool, poolside with sun-beds and tables/chairs were very lovely. Disability access was excellent. We could not have been happier or more impressed and would not hesitate to return or recommend.
