Royal Pier

Reasonably good hotel , but bedroom was crammed and other than the bed there was no where to sit . The bed was uncomfortable and the two parts of the divan were at different heights . Shower area to too small to use . The lift to the second floor was challenging……in that some days it worked , other days it didn’t However the Food was most excellent , as were the uoung ladies echo served it . A good choice on both the dinner and breakfast menus Wi-Fi only available in the public areas , not in the bedrooms

Mixed feelings. Room itself was clean, furniture although updated looked cheap. Shower room was clean and a good size. Lift was ridiculous, could only hold 2 and was difficult to open the shutter door when trying to put a case in . Should have a porter service to help elderly and disabled guests. Several in our coach party couldn't mange to get their cases to and from their rooms. Pandemonium when coach parties arrived. Restaurant, was served by a lovely waiter called Jamie, nothing was too much trouble . He mysteriously disappeared after a couple of days. Service then deteriorated. Waitress looked like she couldn't be bothered, was quite abrupt when speaking to us . Waited quite a while to be served. Need more staff as we were waiting for the food as only 1 waitress for several tables , other waitresses were clearing tables, while people were waiting to eat , they did not help serve food. Food itself was hot, some portions were small , we had what was described as a Caeser salad , it was hilarious, seen nothing like it before. Entertainment was fairly good as was the prices behind the bar. Think on the whole they need more staff as some, especially an older man seemed stressed and was quite abrupt with several people on reception. Location was good , but i'd not stay again .

Good food,rooms and entertainment.the-one thing that stood out was all of the staff could not do enough to help everyone with a smile and a helping hand.This made our stay so relaxing.We would definitely stay there again.well done Royal Pier Hotel.

When we arrived at this hotel we were given a very small room that looked out to nothing but brick walls. We asked for a different room but were told there was nothing available, which we accepted. Within a couple of hours the manager found us sitting outside the hotel and offered us an upgrade which was perfect. All through the weekend of our holiday we found the staff very helpful and friendly. The bar was well stocked, and the restaurant food was very nice. Our group had a themed evening in the bar which the hotel staff happily supported. We had a really good weekend.

Where do I start? Even though in the wrong restaurant staff member continually answers back pensioners. The shower isn't clean The rooms are poky Rare to get Internet access Fire alarm went off one morning 3am and staff member just struggles to switch it off , telling residents to go back to your rooms. No investigation. Scary. I asked if it was a false alarm, to be told " I think so.im hope so. If it goes off again then obviously not". Funnily enough sleeping was difficult after that.

Just spent a wonderful week at the Royal Pier. All staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. Food was excellant. Entertainment was good. We had a beautiful seaview room. There is a refurb programme going ahead at moment, which didnt detract from our enjoyment. We look forward to coming back to this hotel.

Warm comfortable hotel with plenty of food. It had everything we could want. Linen was crisp, showers were small but hot and all the rooms are en-suite I believe. Tea and coffee and a kettle in the room and two evenings of entertainment in the week. Staff were amazing, worked really hard to look after everyone. The hotel is by the sea, just behind the pier. Never tried the pool but looks inviting in the pictures.

We stayed at this hotel before and we loved it hence our return. We always call in for a drink even if we are staying at another hotel. The hotel we stay at is of course down to whichever coach company we travel with. The hotel is right on the sea-front with shops and other hotels within walking distance. It is clean with friendly and welcoming staff and the food is mouth-watering. Entertainment and fun. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

We and some other visitors from our coach placed our order for breakfast at 8.45 but we did not receive our meal until '09.20'? The coach was due to dep for a coastal tour in 10mins time so he had to wait for us-10mins late. The food was similar to child's plate, ie not enough. The toast was warm white bread-no colour to it. Complaints fell on deaf ears. Couldn't shower for 2 days as the water was cold? We had to boil the kettle and empty it into the sink then wash ourselves down with our flannel before heading down for the evening meal. Shower cubical/sink/and toilet are so close together we had to 'squeeze' out from the toilet? Sounds amusing but its not. In the end we went to the Bayshore Hotel next door for the entertainment. Worst holiday ever to the IOW during our 23 years visiting. I have complained via email to the hotel and Majestic Tours. Never again will we stay at this hotel.
