Stayed here for 3 nights. We chose Firostefani instead of Fira and Oia because it is quiter. It was a very weird and unique stay here in Villa Ilias. It was very expensive, in fact it was the most expensive room I have ever stayed in - in my life. But they say, “when in Santorini, you must splurge”, and splurge is what we did. Santorini was Magical and the views from our “penthouse” apartment were absolutely Mind-Blowing. We reserved the top-floor suite, which was totally 100% private. George, a really great host, checked us in and gave us important information about the area and the island, as well as escorting us to our room. George gave us a complimentary bottle of red wine, it was very nice. We climbed up two sets of steep precarious steps up to our unit. More on the steps later... The room was oddly shaped, very narrow, and hardly had any furniture to put our things on. The room was white-washed with bench type walls. The bed, or I should say mattress, was on a slightly elevated pedestal. It was very low to the ground and there was a major trip hazard leading to it. It was an oddly shaped step. Both my wife and I had tripped on it several times, to a point where we had to put pillows on top of it as to not to trip over it. The TV was in a place where I banged my head on it just getting into, or I should say onto – the bed. I am not an accident-prone person. The bathroom had a double-wide walk-in shower, but there was hardly any water pressure. You could look down to the cruise ships while you are showering. Toilet was fine. You could take care of business while looking over the entire volcano area. It was stunning. The sink was tiny, and I kept hitting my hands on the faucet. Soaps and shampoos were provided. There was a decent size closet with a safe. The safe had a key, instead of a combination lock. We never used the safe, I prefer the combination lock type safe. There was a refrigerator with clean glassware provided. The Jewel of this unit was the open-air roof-top porch with a hot tub and the 360 degree views of Santorini, totally private to us and for us. We were up high and could see everywhere and everything. We spent all our time here. The sunsets, and the sunrises, were absolutely stunning. The church bells chiming in the morning was just magical. We will never forget these views and the time we spent here. This was life changing. No need to venture to Oia, this location was pure ecstasy. The hot tub was great! Having cocktails, while in the tub and watching the sunset is pure Heaven. THIS is what made the stay worth it. The pool, was small but refreshing. I’m not knocking the size, land sizes are limited so they did the best they could do, and it was pretty decent. The pool bar is manned by another George. Very nice and cool guy. Will fix you an awesome drink or get you a Greek beer. Serves up some great pizza as well. There is a mini-market nearby that has anything you may need, especially bottled water, beer, ouzo
