Acotown Gulf International Hotel

Room is clean. Environment is nice and it has great view of the ocean. Hotel give us two free breakfasts and the food are great. Soy milk is the best compare to other hotels. Different dishes take care of both foreigners and local people.

The staff provided good service to customer especially at the front office . They make sure goods delivered to the hotel and hand over to me. Good food in the restaurent. The location is excellent to go any where using the subway near by.

There’s parking. It’s free for hotel residents. Rooms are clean. We had a nice view on marina from our balcony. Rooftop bar with decent food and liquor. There’s a swimming pool, too. But I personally didn’t check it out. 10 mins walk to subway station. It takes about an hour to get to SZ downtown. Taxi back would cost sth around 90-100 rmb. There are two restaurants on the ground floor where you can have Western or Chinese style breakfasts. I would recommend Chinese dim sum over Western dishes (they are rather generic). If you’re a coffee lover, there’s Starbucks nearby, your order can be delivered to the hotel lobby.

Good view from the balcony is the main highlight, unfortunately you have the loud standard Chinese street music that echoes into the evening. If you’re wanting western restaurants I wouldn’t recommend staying here, the breakfast is poor, I refused to eat it and bought breakfast elsewhere. The restaurants nearby are not great, you’ll need to take the subway further into the city to find anything decent. There’s a nice area to run by the water just outside of the hotel, the receptionist was friendly but I got the impression this isn’t a usual hotel for foreigners. On more than a few occasions I had uneducated rude senseless people staring and pointing, something I wasn’t subject to in the more international district of Nanshan. Overall the hotel is extremely overpriced for what it is, if you’re a foreigner DO NOT BOOK HERE!

Good hotel for couples, a tiny bay, there are some western restaurants, can walk around, better book the room with the balcony 😻

Positives The hotel was clean and had beautiful views, just make sure you stay above the tenth floor to truly enjoy them. It was very close to the metro and just a walk away from Wutong mountain. The gym was fully equipped and clean, there was even a relatively big outdoor pool that I didn't know they had until I saw it from the gym. The breakfast was also good although not a western breakfast which is what I was hoping for. Negatives This is small but there was no bottle opener or spoon in the room to stir my coffee with. The staff were friendly but like most hotels I've been to in China, they didn't know anything about the area such as if foreigners could quickly and easily rent out bikes. They could've just explained that it takes one WORKING DAY to verify your ID to use the bike app which I had to figure out on my own. They should have this information along with other information like what are the best beaches both nearby and far away as well as some restaurants they would recommend. Overall, the hotel is great value for money and I'd happily stay here again, especially knowing they have a fairly big outdoor pool. Although the area is not for tourists as there is nothing to see apart from Wutong mountain which was great, it's still worth staying in as you have the metro nearby.
