"Cosy historical building done up very nicely. Room was well renovated, owner super friendly and very accommodating, we asked for more water, toilet paper, different type of breakfast etc all happy to oblige. 10 minutes walk to light show, 10m walk to center of ancient city where most of the historical sites were. 10m walk to outside where the best food is..DO NOT eat inside the old city, food outside much better. Owner also arranged for car to take us to Wang Family compound and Shuanglian temple at much better price than I could find anywhere online. and private transfer to/from train station as well. Very happy I booked to stay at this location. Breakfast was EXCELLENT"

"This hotel is in a prime location on Main Street, right next to the famous Cheng Huang Miao temple. It offers both convenience and a sense of seclusion. Despite my room being near the main entrance, I experienced no noise or disturbances. The hotel arranged a seamless transfer from East Gate, where vehicles are permitted, to the temple, followed by a short 50-meter walk to the hotel. This service, included in the hotel package, made the arrival process effortless. Communication via WeChat and assistance from my tour guide ensured a smooth transfer both in and out. They also provided luggage assistance, which was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. The owner… or at least, I assume he is was incredibly friendly, informative, and helpful. He provided useful tour information and even gifted a bottle of vinegar upon departure. Only one exception that language might be a barrier if you totally can’t speak Chinese - but fret not there’s always translator tools. The room was very comfortable and appeared newly renovated, with excellent pillows and a cozy comforter. Both the room and bathroom were clean. Amenities included disposable towels, essential toiletries, and a powerful hairdryer. We didn’t have any food here as our room didn’t come with it but that’s fine, there are plenty of options in Pingyao which you should go out to try. As a frequent guest of Marriott chains (which means I have certain level of expectations), I had to explore local options since there isn’t one in Pingyao. This hotel met my expectations, and I highly recommend it to both local and international travellers. For the reasonable price and excellent location, I have no complaints, except that I wish I had stayed two nights instead of one!"

"the staff was friendly and the inn is very cute. the toilet was a bit dirty but nothing a good disposable toilet seat cover couldn't solve. wifi and AC heating are great. breakfast was amazing. the only complaint is that check out took longer than usual (staff wasn't present) and we weren't given any bottle of typical vinegar :/"

"這房太棒了，新裝修的，絕對的有味道。據説是三百年的老房子，兩進院。店家是夫妻兩，特別熱情樸實，接送站，幫拿行李，娃突然病了，早餐送房間（餐食是老闆娘每天五六點起來現做的，我親眼看到的），還多給了礦泉水，這裏也能點外賣，哪哪都好。離新東門很近，去景點都很方便，來的時候還給城裡的圖紙幫忙講解，這次娃發燒就住了兩天，基本沒怎麼玩，下次還要來，據店家大哥説過些日子城隍廟附近的餐廳就要開了，下次來去嚐嚐。還有因為娃生病改了幾次火車，大哥都積極配合送站，太感謝了。過些日子還要再來，大少奶奶還沒拍呢。祝生意興隆，首次獨自帶娃出行很坎坷，但是店家給予了很多幫助很温暖，這是個有愛的民宿。 歡迎水果、中葯材養生香囊、雲憩自選下午茶都有，還給了飯館打折卡。"

"Very nice little hotel. Perfect location near the South Gate. Extremely friendly staff. Fantastic value for money. Transport to and from the high-speed railway station is included. They give us discount vouchers to use in a great restaurant and offer us samples of the famous local vinegar. Don’t miss this place."

"We had the best stay at Elswhwere Hotel West Gate. The building is restored it the nicest way really gives you the feeling of timetravel. The people working in the hotel, were carrying and welcoming. They explained us how to navigate the city, helped us buy tickets for the city sights, recommend restaurants and we even got a room upgrade and lovely gifts to take home and remember our time in Pingyao. The bed was so comfortable and we had the best sleep. Can recommend this hotel full heartedly. Would definitely come back! Thank you Helen and Fenny for making our stay so memorable."
