"The hotel is old, and only one elevator works, so getting up and down is a bit slow. The corridors and rooms smell damp. I booked a room for three people, but the amenities provided were always for two people. Fortunately, the staff were quick to respond when reminded. However, during our four-day, three-night stay, we consistently had to remind the staff. There was an air-conditioning problem on the first night, but the next day we received a new room with functioning air conditioning."

"Location near to hospital, however far from town, but accessible with taxi. Loud noise penetrates into the room if ambulance siren, noisy bikes and cars, as the glasses are not thick enough to block the noises. Lack of amenities. However, the facilities are still new. Good interiors. Balcony is spacious. Impressive water pressure and constant hot water. Tentative staff. Good breakfast."

"There was an issue with the air conditioner. Other than that, everything was good, but some rooms didn’t have a hair dryer or a fridge. However, I was impressed because the maintenance team asked if I wanted to change rooms and directly contacted the receptionist, who immediately allowed us to do so."

"Room is big but worn out. Towels and bedsheet has got an unpleasant smell even though it’s changed. Location is good if you don’t mind the noise from the Regatta (Happen to be there at the weekend). Do note that there’s road closure during these period and grab cannot pick up/drop off in front of the hotel.  Staff are friendly and helpful. It’s ok to miss breakfast. But some inconsistency, they did not ask for deposit from us unlike other review where they ask for deposit in cash/card.  Don’t bother to order anything from the restaurant/bar. I order the least possible to screw up drink aka hot tea and it comes lukewarm diluted in less than half a disposable cup. Didn’t asked for takeaway.  Overall, with the same price, just go to an international chain hotel."

The hotel provides great basic amenities for me to have a comfortable stay. The location is great, only 2-min walk to the cat statue and then can continue walking along the waterfront. The breakfast buffet spread also decent, i love their fried rice and fresh pineapple and orange juice. The staff also very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great service!

Room with sea view was absolutely perfect. The panoramic ocean view from our room were breathtaking, green, fresh. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. Very calm pool to swim. Private beach access was ideal for relaxing vacation.

Meritin Hotel - Lovely stay, big thanks to Gabriel, Akmal and my brother Paul! Just stayed here with my wife and mum – we’re from China. My brother Paul recommended this hotel, as he’d just stayed for two to three weeks. The room was absolutely great! It’s really comfortable, with a dry-wet separated toilet – the toilet bowl is the Japanese famous brand TOTO and the flushing power is extremely strong. There were plenty of towels too, and the HSKP staff always replenished our daily necessities promptly – so thoughtful! We also borrowed plates, cutlery from the lobby restaurant easily which was very convenient. Only one small thing: the air conditioning was a bit too cold in the room. I really want to say how good Gabriel (FO staff) and Akmal (Operations Manager) were. Gabriel was so helpful: my TV box wasn’t working properly, he fixed it quickly and showed me how to use it. He’s so friendly and patient; Akmal was great too – whenever we needed something he helped straight away, very enthusiastic and always sorted things out perfectly. You all did a great job....Please keep it up! My whole family will definitely come back!!!..... Michael (Room 502 Nov 23-29 2025)

If I go to Kuching for work, I always book to stay at this hotel. This time I stayed in block B. I recommend that you all stay at this hotel because the taste of the facilities and equipment is very satisfactory. The price is worth it and safety is very guaranteed.

Legacy Hotel, booked – Superior Queen Room (16 sqm) Positives 👍 Reception staff were polite and welcoming. Pleasant atmosphere with plants and vintage luggage lift at the entrance. Room color scheme (deep green + white) feels calm and comfortable. Air-conditioning works well and keeps the room cold. Towels and bed linens are of very good quality – soft and comfortable. Electric kettle provided is a reputable brand (KHIND) with glass design. Location is next to the famous Sarawakian restaurant “Lepau”, as well as a Western restaurant (Sharing) and a BBQ spot. Lots of food options nearby. Negatives 👎 Room is extremely small (16 sqm feels very narrow). Wash basin has no counter space – can only fit two glasses for toothbrush & toothpaste; no room for cleanser or other toiletries. The electric kettle had no proper socket nearby – I had to boil water on the small bedside table. For the price and location, the overall value feels a bit low. If you don’t have a car, getting around might be inconvenient. (I rented a car, so it was fine for me.) Overall: I only stayed one night (8pm check-in, 7:30am check-out). It was fine just for sleeping, but if staying longer, the small space and practical inconveniences would be noticeable.

Title: Great Service and Space, but Maintenance Needs Attention My family (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed here for one night 19/12/2025 in Tower A, Room 915. We booked the room with 2 Queen beds, and overall, it is still good value for money, but there are some significant maintenance issues to address. The Positives: • Space & Comfort: The room was very spacious, and the beds were comfortable—we slept well. • Utilities: The air conditioning is powerful and cold, water pressure is excellent, and the Wi-Fi connection was strong and stable. • Service: The staff were the highlight—very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. • Value: Free parking is a plus, and the breakfast buffet, while not having a huge variety, was tasty. The Negatives: • Mold: Upon entering Room 915, we were greeted by a damp mold smell. The bathroom walls, sink, and floor edges were stained with mold, and the external window view was tarnished by mold stains as well. • Pool Area: The swimming pool is nice, but there are absolutely no lounge chairs or tables. I had to place my dry clothes and towel on the wet floor, which is quite inconvenient. • Entertainment: The TV only offers local Malaysian channels. It’s a budget-friendly option if you prioritize space over modern finishings.

We booked this place last minute after denied check in at another place only to be able to stay at the said hotel after few hours. Forced to cancel and never stay in the unit but had an experience dealing with the owner. Although it cant be refunded but lets assume its a good place based on the pictures alone haha
