Dhow Palace Hotel

The Dhow Palace is nothing but class, everyone here has been so kind and helpful. The rooms are nice the food is awesome, the dine in Restaurants on ground everything has been Superb . I definitely plan to return once again.

The Dhow Palace is a good central location to places of interest in Stone Town. Helpful pleasant and friendly staff. Good rooftop space to sit and relax and take in the city view. Rooms comfortable and clean. Nice outside balcony space. Rooms a bit tired.

Having had the pleasure of returning to Dhow Palace Hotel for the second time, I can confidently say that it remains one of the most charming and captivating places to stay in Stone Town. Situated in the heart of Stone Town, it offers easy access to the bustling markets, historical landmarks, and vibrant culture that this UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for. It's a perfect starting point for any adventure in this enchanting town. The furnishings at Dhow Palace Hotel are as beautiful as I remembered. The blend of traditional Zanzibari decor with modern comforts creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that truly immerses you in the historical charm of the area. The attention to detail in the design and decor is evident throughout the property. What impressed me once again was how well maintained the hotel is. Despite the passage of time, everything still looked immaculate, and the staff's dedication to keeping the place in top-notch condition was evident. The ambiance and architectural elements evoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder, allowing you to experience a piece of the island's rich history. The staff at Dhow Palace Hotel were incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel like a valued guest throughout my stay. Their warm hospitality and willingness to assist with any request further enhanced the overall experience.

We stayed at the Dhow after our Safari in Tanzania for 2 nights. Our room was quiet and comfortable. We had room 11 on the main floor. 2 small bottles of water were provided each day. Coffee was provided. The fridge worked! Nice to have a cold drink! Had trouble with the kettle, the front desk was prompt to replace. There was a safe in the room but we were told all valuables should be stored at the office as the safe was not working. We did take breakfast at the Dhow. Eggs made to order. Cereal, yogurt fruit and toast, some sausage. We also had lunch there the day we checked in. A grilled sandwich. The pool was refreshing. It was very hot and humid for us while we were there Feb 2024. There is a sign, the pool is deep. For those that aren't strong swimmers be aware it is 3 meters deep in the main part of the pool. There is a great view of the city and harbour from the top floor of the building and interesting artifacts sprinkled throughout the floors be sure to take some time to check it out. We did notice other tours stopping in at the Dhow because of its historical significance. As with most places there is a tip box at the front desk and tips are shared among all staff. The location was convenient to walk to sights, shopping, market and restaurants. We did use trip advisor to book a private tour of stone town which we enjoyed and felt was well worth it. It included sights at the harbour, Slave market and fish meat and spice market.

We hat the pleasuer of staying at the Dhow Palace Hotel, during our Kenia Tansania Safari. The Dhow is a jewel in itself and stands out, it is situated in the heart of Stone town, boasting a prime location that is convenient for both individual and group travelers. With easy access to major attractions, and for exploring everything the old city has to offer.

A very good hotel in Zanzibar. The staff is very friendly, the building is beautiful - it dates from the 16th century - very comfortable and with an excellent location. The breakfast is good, and the decoration is very nice. I highly recommend it.

The property is very beautiful, it has very nice decoration. Our room was exactly as in the photos, clean and beautiful. Also the staff very welcoming and ready to serve at any time. I highly recommend it!

Stone Town is over rated. The area is dirty, the buildings' facades are falling apart. The public parks and beaches are mostly dirty, with garbage everywhere. I wouldn't suggest to stay there. Better stay some where else in Zanzibar and just spend one morning walking around Stone Town. The hotel air condioner was really noisy, the pillows uncomfortable. Could improve in several things.

Remember this is Stone Town, if you looking to experience the Swahili then I suggest booking at Dhow Palace Hotel. I highly recommend spending a few nights in Stone Town (3nights) before heading for the East Coast. Awesome and friendly staff who are very accommodating in making your stay a pleasurable one. The rooms are spacious. We booked the delux double room with sea view (try and get room 40-it’s spacious than the other room with an open shower which is amazing, plus plenty sunlight coming into the room. There’s an exchange bureau (Kadoo)like 3 buildings away which has the best exchange rate in Stone Town, across is an ABSA ATM as well. Breakfast isn’t that wide variety, could do with some sprucing up but I guess most of the hotels in Stone are like that. Beach is about 5min walking distance just down the road. We booked our tours and taxi with Abdul +255 62 355 9577. What an awesome guy and prices are really reasonable.
