Lake Taupo Holiday Resort

Nice place to go for winter. Kids love the pool. Pool at the bottom of the Hydro slide is super cold so kids don't go down the hydro slide. My kids have allergies. Pool cafe has yum food but didn't have any foods for my son who has allergies. So I took him in so blueberries to the pools area and was told by the cafe that I couldn't have them. I then clarified and said he had allergies and is there any food on the menu that fit his dietary requirements. They then confirmed no they didn't have anything but still refused me to bring in my own food for him. That was conflicting. Only other downfall is the price. Super expensive even for a cabin with no bathroom.

The worst customer service. We left 2 days early due to the amount of rain coming and our campsite nearly flooded earlier with less rain. Our friends were on the site next to us and reported that after we left someone else set up on our site. I contacted the campground and asked them to refund us the night seeing as they had put someone else on our site. I was told they had moved to our site without asking, which I find very hard to believe. So I told them if that was the case I want the people moved off our site so our friends can enjoy the extra space. They never replied. I messaged again the next morning when I had confirmation that the people weren't moved saying I wanted the night refunded since they didnt move the people off our site. Still no reply. I believe they are double dipping and didnt put it right when they were busted. On top of that the pools were too hot on a hot day. I dont understand why they can't adjust the temperature in the main pool to suit the weather. We all ended up with cuts all over our feet from the pool. The hydroslides were slow and you arent allowed to use a mat to speed yourself up. And while we were there we had someone else join us for a night as we had space for 2 more people on one of our sites. When I called before our stay to see what the charge would be for extra people they ran it though the system and told me there would be no charge. But then they charged $40 per person per night saying it was an overflow rate which makes no sense when they originally told me there would be no charge I wont be coming back and would like to warn others about this money hungry campground

Be careful with this place If you leave an honest review they will "blacklist" you and not allow you to stay again. Just pulled up to give it another try after a terrible visit a few years ago and were denied entry. Customer feedback and doing the right thing by the customer is normally important to New Zealand business owners. Instead of denying people perhaps promise them a better experience next time if they choose to visit again.

Awesome park with large level sites & an amazing pool area. We were surprised when we entered the park to see all of the activities for kids. We loved the thermal pool even though it was school holidays there was plenty of space.

From the time our party of 25 odd ranging from infants to 60 years of age birthday girl the smiles never left our faces. The facilities available mean you never have to leave - so many activities in one place. The cabins were clean and tidy with just enough space for all our gear. The children (all 14 of them) were very sad to leave when it was time to go. Highly recommended

THE BEST PLACE EVER FOR WINTER... the kids literally asking everyday to come back here, they have so much fun. pool whole day, slide whole day, drink whole day... We literally spend whole day in the pool. There is pool bar too that you can order food and drinks, yess DRINKS on the pool how cool is this place...

The pool, bar, cafe great. Clean enough. Nice grounds, great for kids, but SO EXPENSIVE! We paid more than 800 for 2 nights for the tiniest little matchbox unit. There wasn't even space to put our luggage. Bang for buck very disappointing!!!

I stayed here in April 23 and the holiday park was very good! The reception staff was very friendly and helpful at check-in and the park is very clean as a whole. The lagoon is beautiful and I have not seen something like it at a holiday park yet. The water was quite warm and even with slightly chilly air temperature very enjoyable. The facilities are very clean and I saw them getting cleaned several times a day. All in all I would recommend coming here anytime.

We have been coming here every year for 4 years, obviously because we absolutely love the place, unfortunately I don't think we will ever return as we saved hard to be able to stay for two nights in the villas ($980 per night) each year and now it has changed to a minimum of 4 nights, it's a lovely place but can't justify that expense for 4 nights in Taupo.
