Friendly staff, clean rooms, nicely presented, nice pub and good breakfast/evening meals. Only 15 min drive from poppleton bar park and ride.

Just stayed here whilst on a visit to a local attraction and had a lovely time, Jon and his team make you feel really welcome and do a great job of looking after you. The food was great and there's a great selection of drinks, all really reasonably priced. It was very busy when we arrived but Jon sorted everything so we could get some food before heading off for the evening, the room was great with everything you could need and a really nice bathroom with a large shower. Overall a really great pub and fantastic service, well done Jon and the team 👍.

We booked The Bay Horse the night before we stayed as a spontaneous family get away. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely land lady who showed us to our beautiful family room. The room was spacious, modern, clean and fresh! We had a very comfortable nights sleep. The pub meals were home cooked and absolutely delicious. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and too was absolutely delicious. The staff here are very helpful and very friendly! Nothing was too much trouble. They lady serving breakfast on Sunday morning even entertained our 3 year old and let him help hoover round the pub. We were absolutely delighted with our stay and will most definitely stay again. Thank you very much to you all.

We arrived to a warm welcome and were quickly settled into our room in a converted garage/stable block. The room was clean and had everything we needed for a last minute break including tea and coffee and nice biscuits. We chose to eat in the pub and had the nicest steak and ale pie ever followed by proper puddings... Yum! The next morning breakfast was served in the restaurant and was freshly cooked with perfect poached eggs. Toast and marmalade. What more could you ask for?

With York hotel rates sky high, we decided to look slightly out of town for a dog friendly place to stay. Approximately 20minutes drive from the centre of York city centre is The Bay Horse Inn. It really is a superb little place to both stay and dine, with good value room rates. We were given a really warm welcome upon arrival by Jon, the owner. Swiftly checked into our external accommodation which was clean and well laid out. Breakfast is included and it's fresh, good quality and cooked to order. Free parking for patrons /residents too. we dined at the pub twice during our three day stay,and the food was beautiful. Try one of Jon's curries, you won't be disappointed! The pub welcomes all ages and is dog friendly. Roaring fires, friendly staff and beautiful food, what's not to love!

Outstanding place. Lovely equipped and comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Highly recommended. Just book it, you won't be disappointed. Great village location about 20 minutes from York. Breakfast freshly cooked.

Nice little Inn in a pleasant village. On arrival, we found the room to be very clean, but very cold. We had not phoned ahead to advise of arrival time, so this was not unexpected. We soon got the room to temperature with the adequate radiator. There was a good size TV and working remote control. It was nice to have a mirror, often lacking in hotel rooms. However, the bathroom was very cold (in tune with the weather) and although there was a towel radiator, there was no facility to switch it on, so the night visits to the loo and morning showers were fairly grim experiences for a February morning. Breakfast was the most disappointing part of the say. Firstly, there no cereals options. When asked, they said they could find something, but it was an offer of just two uninviting choices. There were no fruit items or yoghurts either, Thankfully I had brought my morning grapefruit with me on the trip, but my wife had nothing. There was no choice of fruit juice, just a half of a small glass of orange juice (already poured), that tasted cheap and oversweet. The cooked breakfast was minimal and the mushrooms were well past their "eat by date" being dried up, wrinkled and too leathery to consume. When they get to that stage it is best to throw them away and offer an alternative. The negatives override the positives, so we will probably not return.

Great stay for a night. WiFi in the room was not too great. Was a bit disappointed as the 4G/5G signal was not great either. Room and bathroom were clean and great food.

Stop over whilst visiting area with family. Pleasant hotel, very friendly staff. Room was a bit cold, but bed was comfy and we slept well. Breakfast was tasty but very small. I guess for the price I can’t complain.
