📍 Station Rise, York

"The hotel is quite close to the train station, about a six or seven-minute walk. It has a beautiful exterior, like a red castle, and right outside is the old city wall. The central areas, like Butcher's Street and the churches, are only a 7-8 minute walk away. The room was spacious, had a coffee machine, and it was convenient to boil water."

Burn Hall Hotel ★★★

📍 Tollerton Road, Huby, York

"The hotel is good, situated in a nice place (for drivers), parking is free. Room was of a good size, very clean and quiet. Water pressure and temperature were amazing, enjoyed our showers. Good to have a breakfast included as well. Hotel is clean and looks recently renovated. Floors are solid. Huge and good towels, a lot of light in the room. Heating was on when it got colder. Staff were very friendly and nice. Parking was full because of the bank holiday, had to stay far on an overflow parking, good that they have it. Warning about 160 fee for running hot water with the steam was honestly scary and inappropriate. Bed was just double, small for us. We were only able to sleep on our sides (my husband is big, I am average). Breakfast was tasty, but basic. Coffee (you choose tea or coffee) in a pot was too much for 1 person and not tasty at all. No fresh vegetables or/and vegetables, no sliced cheese, no pastry."

"We stayed in a family room for four people, located on the top floor. There's an elevator and paid parking available, along with a complimentary breakfast that was quite substantial. Most of the guests were retired seniors. Overall, while the hotel is a bit old, it's clean and well-maintained."

"The location is pretty good, very close to the city walls and York Minster. However, the facilities seem a bit subpar. During the summer, the western sun makes the room very hot, and the air conditioning is practically ineffective. The shower space in the room is tiny; you can't even bend over to wash your toes... Overall, it's far from what I'd expect from the Hilton brand."

TRAVELODGE YORK CENTRAL LAYERTHORPE

The Grand York ★★★★★
"The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the train station. There's a capsule coffee machine and small bottles of water in the room. I booked an accessible room this time, and the sink was quite small. I'd recommend being cautious when booking and opting for a standard room, as the bathroom is more convenient."

Hilton York ★★★★
"Definitely one of the worst stay experiences in my life. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! 1. Alarm set by the previous guest was not turned off by housekeeping. And it rang twice at around 6am. 2. Serious leakage in the toilet. Wet floor every time we showered. It was gloss walking on the wet tiles with bare feet. We had to cover the floor with bath towels. And it smelt moldy. 3. Ridiculous design. We can bear the old refurbishing. There were plenty sockets inside the room but none next to bed. We had to get off bed to get mobile charged after web browsing every single night. 4. There were heavy fire doors next to the lift. Imagine we had to pull over two heavy luggage while pushing the doors open. Again, ridiculous design! 5. Staff obviously not so helpful. I reflected these two problems to the receptionist when we checked out. The staff sent his apology but did not ask whether we need any assistance for taxi. Not professional at all! The only merit is that it is conveniently located. Nothing else!"
