"The hotel rooms are quite run down especially where we were right at the back Room 45. We had no remote to use the Air Conditioning during the hottest days we’ve had this year. Went to reception and they said someone would be with us in 15 minutes. Waiting 45 but we had a restaurant booking in the city so could not wait around. Water in the shower randomly goes scolding hot .  Not a hotel I’d return to unfortunately which is a shame because most other Doubletree hotels I’ve stayed in have been great."

"We only used the accommodation for two nights without breakfast or any other meals. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and the coffee was great. The decor was really nice with a jazz feel. It was very quaint and vintage. I would imagine a stay in the summer would be very nice as the courtyard was very pretty and peaceful."

"The place was very opulent indeed! We were very happy with our stay. Initially Tammy the receptionist told us that there were limited slots for the spa and restaurant. However the hotel was virtually empty. A party of 16 guests was in during our stay but the hotel was definitely not busy at all. We therefore had to rush to have dinner and only enjoy an hour of our spa visit instead of 2 hours allocated. She told us the only spa slot was 7-9pm (we were the only ones in there) and dinner they only had 6:45, 7 and 7:15pm meaning we got an hour for food and an hour in the spa. This wasn’t a huge issue as we didn’t need more than an hour in the spa. The steamroom was useless. No steam at all even though the attendant reset it. Sauna was great and pool was great. Changing facilities were lovely. Food was nice 8/10. The Amuse-bouche was delicious and a complimentary starter. The mrs loved her venison. My steak was average and the chips also average. Pricey at £92 for the one course but to be expected as the place is very luxurious. Staff were brilliant. Very professional and polite. Breakfast was decent. Staff again were brilliant and boxed one up as the mrs was getting ready we wouldn’t have made the 10am cut off."

"The soundproofing is really poor... I could hear everything from the next room, including conversations and the sound of doors opening, so it was a bit scary staying alone. However, the staff I met at breakfast were incredibly kind. But the poor soundproofing and the use of a physical key for the room made me feel quite uneasy. The location is about a 15-minute walk from Minster, but it is situated a bit inland, which also made me feel a bit scared."

There are numerous bus stops just located within 3 mins of walking making it very easy to travel to rail station or designer outlet. Moreover, there are numerous groceries such as saintsbury, Tesco and M&S foods. 10mins walk to York minister. It comes with complementary breakfast as well and it has many varieties and delicious. From the room you can overlook the Clifford castle as well."

"I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel. I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax. The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting. I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours. Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again."
