Our stay was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The location is perfect, making it easy to explore everything Chester has to offer, and the hotel itself is both comfortable and welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean, well presented, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. What really stood out was the service, we found the staff to be incredibly friendly, attentive, and always happy to help, which made us feel genuinely valued as guests. The little touches throughout our stay made it extra special, and we left feeling refreshed and very well looked after. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chester.

Arrived at reception to a 30min wait due lots of people trying to book in and only two receptionists at the desk and one of these was dealing with problems. Which spoilt the start to our break. Once we arrived in our room which was above the restaurant we found the room 4133 outdated with veneer on the wardrobe peeling off. This is not what we would have expected from the reviews we had read. reference the leisure complex swimming pool. which was clean but we found no instructions on how to operate the lockers and had to wait until someone came in. The breakfast and bar area are excellent. generally Very disappointed.

2nd time stay at the Portal. Rooms are great, championship golf course very good (even in the wet/muddy ground). Staff are great & had a super breakfast in the restaurant in the morning which is fulled with light & good views.

Rooms are extremely light and clean, sturdy beds. On the hotels official website, it states the rooms air air conditioned, however, this is not true. When we asked the guy on reception, he tried to convince me that I’ve read it wrong and tried to make me out as being stupid, but it clearly states the rooms have aircon but only the reception/lobby has air con. The room was very comfortable, could do with having some netting as looks directly into the offices across the way, unless you close the curtains.

A great stay! Excellent value for money, friendly staff and a great location. I would 100% recommend to anyone! I am fairly local to the area so knew of this hotel, but I stayed because i had my mum come over for the weekend. She enjoyed it just as much as I did, so thank you for making her trip up her one to remember! I will definitely stay here again next time she is up here.
