The property is quite old and the bathroom was not properly cleaned. The room was spacious. No wifi in room, only at the lobby. The top floor open-air Onsen is excellent. The buffet is superb both dinner and breakfast especially for the price I paid. After checking out, they even have a shuttle brought only me to the train station.
The room is big enough to even change my suitcase from broken one to a new one. I like having bamboo baskets for me to carry thing to the onsen. It is very nice to have sauna, one indoor onsen, one outdoor onsen and a cold onsen. I was happy to have an ice-cream after onsen and can have a small bowl of ramen for free.
I am so glad I chose Komatsu-kan during my stay in Matsushima. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful. When I told him I am a vegetarian, he kindly informed the kitchen to exclude animal flesh and seafood from my meal. (Usually, hotels ignored my food request, or they just gave me tofu and pickles for my meal.) The next morning, I was so surprised to see my breakfast. I loved the fresh salad, steamed vegetables, over-easy eggs, chawan-mushi, and the pickles even tasted better than before.
Then the room surprised me with the pine tree and the beautiful sea view. The next morning I woke up at 4:45 to see the sunrise. Just from my room, I could see the sun slowly rising from the other side of the sea. Stunning! I really enjoyed the little Me time here.
Actually, this hotel is well-maintained, and that helps raise the value of it. I also love the fresh little flowers right next to the washing basin. And the people working here are quite ya-sa-shi. They are kind and gentle. Generally speaking, this is a nice place worth staying and relaxing in.
The hotel located around 1km from the station and the road between the hotel and station can be quite busy traffic so it is not that ideal if you travel with large luggage. The hotel does provide a shuttle service on my way back to the station, it was initially said the charge is 100 yen but they did not collect it. In terms of the onsen, there is one in the top floor which offers an small outside onsen, and there is another one on the next building. The dinner is good especially the beef and seafood.
Amazing views of the bay from my room. It makes waking up every morning an almost religious experience.
If you’re staying here and can afford it, pay the extra to face the bay. You won’t regret it.
The bath are also has bay views and is one of the best I’ve experienced in Japan.
The location is fanastic. It is close to Sendai JR Station, Sendai Morning Market and shopping streets. It is especially important given we have 2 ninety-year-old ladies in our group.
Breakfast was great. The dining hall was of Art Deco design. It had a mixture of western and Japanese dishes. The amount was plentiful and quality was good.
The onsen was free. There were jacuzzi and old water bath. It is pity that there was no open air bath.
We would consider a return if we happen to come back to Sendai.

JJoyee LaiFrom the moment we entered the hotel, the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. We were warmly welcomed with a Nespresso coffee machine available as a welcome drink, which was a very nice touch.
The room was slightly more spacious than most hotels in Japan, beautifully designed, and very clean—making our stay comfortable from the start.
During our stay, we experienced the Aomori earthquake. We could clearly feel the shaking, and our phones received emergency alerts, so we quickly evacuated using the outdoor emergency stairs. When we reached the lobby, a staff member named 佐藤 (Sato) was already there, calmly reassuring guests. He noticed a lady who had run out barefoot and quietly brought her a pair of slippers without making a scene—such a thoughtful gesture.
Mr. Sato was friendly and attentive during check-in, and during the earthquake he remained calm, clear, and informative. His professionalism and kindness left a deep impression on us.
Overall, a wonderful stay with excellent service and genuine care for guests. Highly recommended.
MMarble202Transportation: easiest with a 50-min taxi ride from Sendai airport unless int’l traveler wants to transfer via trains/buses. Nearest bus stop/little township is 遠刈田温泉 (13-min by foot to the Inn).
Key feature is open air onsens in forestry — this is why I chose to stay. Delightful breakfast and dinner (during dinner, there are all-inclusive drinks menu + additional charge ones). I enjoyed the 2nd night’s beef/daikon pot in particular. There are hearth side afternoon refreshment, happy hour beer, post-dinner snack that you will be kept fed warmly.
The aircon in Buna room would blow directly on the head so the fan blade should be adjusted.
Staff English speaking capability varies but they made every effort in solving problems. Little hiccup after checking out that the bus time table the Inn indicated was outdated, but I still managed to change my route in the fly, which is the beauty traveling in Japan.

MMisafir KullanıcıIt is an all inclusive hotel in the Akiu area. Buffet dinner and breakfast were just superb. There are two public onsen that can be used freely. Shuttle bus can be arranged to/from Sendai station if you don’t drive.

AAnonim KullanıcıHotel is approx 5 mins walk from Sendai station. Follow west exit. My single room is a bit small but spacious enough for a solo. Room was clean and linen crisp. 1 bottle of water provided each day. Onsen is small with one outdoor. Over my 2-day stay at most I bumped into another person in the onsen. 2 washers and dryers in the onsen facility. Wash is free (30 mins standard) but dryer is charged 100 yen for 20 mins which is enough to 80% dry a small load. Night ramen was delicious and I appreciate the ice cream and Yakult at the onsen. Family mart is 20 steps away. Didn’t try the breakfast. And it’s actually very near the Miyakoh highway bus centre.
