The hotel is nestled in the mountains, and the morning views from our rooms were absolutely breathtaking. On a few mornings with light drizzle, a mist swirled around the mountains, making it feel like we were living among the clouds. There was just one minor issue: the hotel initially wanted to charge 300 yen per person per day simply because it offers a public bath. As I’m not comfortable using such facilities, I didn’t visit the bath at all. However, at checkout, I was surprised to see an additional charge of over 1,000 yen for my family on the invoice. Although the amount was small, it didn’t seem fair to be charged for a facility we didn’t use. After I raised this concern, the front desk manager stepped in and kindly waived the fee. Aside from this slight issue, my stay was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable.

Kaplıca tesisleri yeni binadan oldukça uzakta, ancak yine de çok keyifli ve yürüyüşe değer. Genel olarak, huzurlu ve unutulmaz bir konaklama.

The price is not that expensive, so we didn’t expect that much. However, everything was really great. Large and clean public onsen. The breakfast was really really brilliant - variety of food and the taste is very yummy. Only the con is a bit far from the city but it’s not our concern. Really impressed. The hotel also provides the drinking station everywhere. Free drinks and snack at the lounge too.

We stayed on 24 to 26 Dec 25. Good hotel but far from everything else. Need to be flexible since weather was unpredictable. We had no snow -just rain for two days, but when we checked out, we had heavy snow which disrupted our travel to Toyama with many trains cancellation and delays (a car stuck on the railroad track). The hotel shuttle bus picks up at Minami-Otari station. There are four coin-operated washing machines and four dryers which were always taken on 3rd Floor. I would advise staying longer than two days and prepare for travel time as it took nearly 20 minutes for a bus ride to Iwatake each way.

The hotel is located pretty far from the train station. You will need to take bus to get to/from the train station. The hotel is walkable to the outlet but it’s a long walk so also expect to take bus to get to the outlet. The hotel has a lot of facilities, gym and onsen etc. However, the hotel is enormous so you need to walk for about 15 mins to get to the onsen if you live in the west wing. The gym is very small. The onsen is outstanding, it is spacious and has both outdoor and indoor onsen. There is a convenient store in the hotel and it has a large variety of food and drinks and also souvenirs.

The room was large and we could see the suwa lake. The beddings were prepared by staffs and breakfast was also good. We could also enjoy the onsen downstairs. Also they let us check out an hour later. Perfect experience

It was the first night of my entire trip—and also the most expensive one. But it was absolutely worth it! Lake Suwa was right in front of the hotel. If you take the train, it might be a bit of a walk, but since I drove, the location was perfect. The hotel was incredibly spacious, and the onsen was lovely. Dinner (a full course meal) was exceptional, and breakfast was just as impressive—absolutely delicious! One thing I still wonder about: what were those insects outside the window at night? They clung to the glass, and I was afraid they might get inside. Thankfully, the window seals were excellent, so none of them made it indoors. Only the outdoor bath had a few, which was understandable. I truly hope I can go back again—with my mom next time!

I am a solo traveler who stayed in the room with private open bath. I enjoyed my 2 nights stay. Hotel looks tired and old but it was all good . Btw, you have to use a key to open the door not access card. I paid for my room with breakfast and dinner. I have a private dining space in a restaurant which I like it. Skip all queue and I dine at the same place for all meals. Dinner was great. Breakfast spread was wonderful too. I tried the one hour jap massage and it was so good. There isn’t anyone who can really speak English. The guests are mainly locals. There is free shuttle to check in and check out. Overall I give 9/10!!

My stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was impeccable. We were easily transported to the iconic Snow Monkey Park, the nearby train station, and other local attractions, which added to the seamless experience. The dining experience was nothing short of spectacular.
