"We stayed here as a family without meals. We requested a quiet room and were given one at the very end, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our stay. The mixed-gender open-air bath was absolutely wonderful, but during the day-trip bathing hours, there was an old man who kept staring at women, which I found quite disturbing. The room wasn't large, but it was perfectly adequate."

"Kusatsu itself is a magnificent place. The hotel is located right in the center. The room type was traditional with futons, and we had a mountain view, which was stunning in the morning. The hotel is well-maintained. We absolutely loved the onsen at the hotel – it was incredibly enjoyable! It was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. I particularly want to highlight the breakfasts and dinners; the selection was absolutely superb. Highly recommended!"

"Very atmospheric and cozy ryokan. Traditional style room and majestic mountains view are breathtaking. The food is fantastic, you dine privately in peace and also provided with unlimited amount of drinks for 90 minutes. There are private and common (men/women) baths available. Water temperature is comfortable and magically washes away your fatigue. Personnel is kind and helpful, they used translator to explain everything to me. I was provided with shuttle bus on check-in and check-out to nearby station (kawaryo onsen station). This place is perfect if you want to detox from city bustle and cleanse your thoughts. Nearby konbini is 1h away on foot (or 15 min on car) so I advise you to stock up your supplies in advance if you need any."

"Traveling with my best friend, we booked a tatami room with half board (dinner and breakfast included). It had two beds within the tatami setup. The room was compact but very clean, and they provided a basket for each of us with a bath towel and toiletries, which was super convenient for taking to the hot springs. The absolute highlight was the two meals – fresh ingredients like Japanese cuisine and the exquisite presentation of French dishes. Absolutely perfect!"

"Great location right next to the bus station, there is a shop in the same building. The entrance is hidden in an alley and privacy is maintained. A nice friendly girl met us at the reception, brought tea to the room. They provide yakata and very beautiful haori. Excellent breakfast is brought to the room, everything is very tasty. The onsen is small, but there are not many rooms in the hotel, we were alone and did not even cross paths with any of the other guests in the onsen. Everything was wonderful."

"Pros: 1. The room was incredibly spacious, with 4 beds even though we were only a party of 3. The mountain view from the room was fantastic! 2. Overall cleanliness was good. 3. Excellent location near Yubatake, where local shops and dining options are plentiful. 4. The private onsen was amazing, with a convenient button to refill hot water into the tub. 5. Special afternoon and evening times offered free food at the lounges, including ice cream, turnip soup, sausages, noodles, and special amenities like complimentary interdental brushes and facial masks. 6. Hotel staff provided excellent and efficient service. 7. Dinner was a delightful 7-course meal, with each evening featuring a different menu. 8. Breakfast was quite good with a decent variety. 9. The complimentary parking area was spacious with plenty of spots, located right next to the hotel entrance. Cons: 1. There isn't much to criticise about the place. Perhaps the breakfast spread could vary slightly each day."

"We have been travelling through asia for two months, and this might have been the best hotel of the entire holiday. The location is spectecular, nezt to a river and between all the volcano plumes, the staff is friendly and are very detailed about how everything works. But the onsens are the best. First of all, they are open 24/7, so you can go there whenever you want. But there are a lot of them, with different temperstures, and its directly next to the river, so the background sound of the flowing river makes it even more relaxing. There is also a seperated onsen in another part of the hotel, which has an inside and outside part. This hotel is a truly amazing hotel."

"We stayed for two nights with our beloved dog. The entire floor we were on was dog-friendly, so we felt completely at ease. The room was well-equipped with a crate, toilet, and bed, making our stay very comfortable. What's more, there's a dog run and even a special hot spring just for dogs, which was an amazing and much-appreciated amenity for those traveling with pets.
