"Beautiful location, hotel and breakfast was good. We arrived at hotel and couldn’t check in until after lunch, left our case at reception and went out. We returned to the hotel at 2100hrs, got the key to the room which was freezing. -1 outside and all heating was switched off, the room was so cold. You would like to think that someone would have known we had not checked in yet and put some heating on. Huge let down for a 4* star hotel. Would have took someone 2 mins and would changed our whole experience. Hope the hotel reads this and learns for the next paying visitor."

Warm, Friendly, meticulous, patient.The manager is also very warm, friendly and attentive to the guests. All the staff are very warm and friendly to the guests. "Excellent stay. The hotel is ideally located if arriving by train. We arrived in the morning and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to check in early as our room was ready. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a roomy walk in shower. The only thing that would have improved it would have been some drawer space as it only has hanging space in the wardrobe. All the staff were helpfull and friendly. We had an evening meal and breakfast during our stay and both were excellent. We also made use of the leisure facilties during our stay. Overall would highly recommend and if we visit York again would definitely stay at The Milner."

"I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel.
I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax.
The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting.
I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours.
Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again."

"We recently stayed at Ibis Styles York Centre with my daughter, and it was honestly better than expected. The room was comfortable, clean, and surprisingly well-equipped — we especially appreciated having air conditioning, which made a big difference to our stay.
The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout, always happy to help and making us feel at ease. Breakfast was another highlight: a great buffet selection with plenty of choice for both adults and children.
Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and great value for money. We would definitely consider staying here again when visiting York."

"Great location if you want a relaxing time away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. Me and the wife had a great time and the service was great especially in the restaurant where we had a lovely meal. Would highly recommend if you want a peaceful weekend or evening away. 😊"

"Really comfortable Hotel…such a big room if compare to other hotel, with the big terrace that you can enjoy the view of the river.
Also, it's not too far to walk from the train station as we didn't drive into York. It is within walking distance of York's main attractions such as the York Minister and The Shambles.
The staff are nice and this is a good choice if you plan to visit York."

"Lovely hotel, staff very accomodating and helpful. Loved the decor, location was 5min taxi to centre. Couple of pubs that do food 2mind walk away. Will defo be coming back in summer. Thanks for a lovely stay!"

"We got a great rate for our room of just under £50. This included breakfast (cooked and continental) for both of us. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
The only thing that let this trip down was our bathroom. The grout on the floor tiles by the toilet was grim. Also we found a child’s sock under the bed which doesn’t say much for the cleaning routine.
Would stay there again as appreciate this could be easily rectified with a deep clean."

MMisafir KullanıcıOn the surface, this cozy place is probably a good bet for a stay in York. It's just enough outside of the city center to avoid all the tourists, but close enough to walk right in. The reservation process was great and the price is good. It's supposed to be a 4 star hotel and, in many senses, it lives up to that status. The staff is excellent. The food and coffee is very good and everyone is very attentive. The rooms are immaculate (heated bathroom floors are amazing!) and the amenities are great. That all said, there are some issues . Often the staff cleans the front area in the middle of the afternoon, which is a rather inconvenient time to clean as it is disruptive to the guests. Though the summer would be different, it was in the low 40's when we were there and heating in the lobby doesn't seem to be a priority for the hotel. We had to have someone set up a space heater for us in the tea room so we could stay warm, which was a bad look (tacky) for them. The biggest issue, however, we that they held a wedding event on the second say we were there. While it's completely understandable for hotels to host events, this particular location is ill suited to do so given the noise level of the event and the small quarters of the hotel. They had a live band, which sent the music to most of the rooms, making sleeping nearly impossible. Though they did move our room, we still heard the band, who played until almost midnight. Having a bunch of wedding guests being loud all lover the hotel also didn't help. The staff agreed with my assessment, which was to either not have events at all or, if they do, block out the rooms from being rented since it is impossible to merge the hotel with an event space. it's just too small. Ultimately, they need to make a decision about who they are as a brand, event space or 4 star hotel. I'd pitch they choose hotel because that is what it really is.

TTominus CThe hotel is a very stylish one. The staffs are super friendly. The location is close to the city. And they have their own park space(already it needs to be paid). But yet, it is a plus in a tourist city like York! Parking space may be difficult to find.
Would stay it once again when i am in York.

MMisafir KullanıcıThe Galtres... A perfect place to stay in York. Location is great, central, surrounded by pubs, shops, bars, restaurant, a few steps from York Minster, couple of minutes walk to the Shambles, 13 minute walk from the train station.
Our room was spotless, checking in was easy, arrived 3 hours early, but room was ready so accessed that straight away. Little bit quirky, I guess no two rooms the same, old fireplace, massive mirrors and a Wimbledon wicker basket at decor.
Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous food, great selection and waiting staff always happy to help. Didn't eat there at other times, but the restaurant always looked busy inside and out.
Two minor faults, could have squoze a small dressing table/desk into the room, and be prepared for a small amount of noise in the morning with delivery vehicles around, not a big problem though.
I would definitely visit again, and recommend anyone visiting York to look at this place as somewhere really nice to stay.

AAnonim KullanıcıRoom was good, loved that the leisure centre was open till late so could get time at the pool and jacuzzi even after sight seeing. Breakfast was great, nice continental selection, and a picturesque view from the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
A potential improvement could be the hot water control in the shower - ours was a Deluxe room with bath. The temperature was either scalding hot or ice cold - there was no in-between.

Had to shower over the bath that had no showering curtain, this made the entire toilet wet and potentially slippery. It will also be inconvenient if someone is unable to climb in and out of a bath easily.
Towels were not provided, requested via the QR code. However, after waiting awhile, we had to go down to lobby to remind the staff of our request. It was then promptly addressed.

AAnonim KullanıcıGood location: near the train station and the York Castle & walking distance from the city centre. Hygiene conditions were fine but the bathroom was way too small. The air for the upper bunk bed was bad, it was hot and poorly ventilated, so as a result I did not sleep well. But overall the hostel was decent, affordable and suitable for a short stay.
