"I stayed at the hotel to attend my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, but the stay was so bad that I checked out at 3:30am! After check-in I went up to my room. A small, single room with a double bed (which was a nice surprise, as I was expecting a single bed). I immediately noticed that there was no air conditioning, and the room was swelteringly hot. Granted, the weather was touching 30c, which was the reason why the room was so hot. I set up the fan that was provided to try to cool things off, and went for a shower to get ready for dinner. The bathroom was also sweltering. The toilet was dirty, not in the sense that someone had used it, but in the sense that it needed a good descaling and a bit of bleach. The shower was also dirty from the shower gel and shampoo dispensers leaking and the screws from the fitting rusting and dripping, so there was a slimy, brown coating on the tiles underneath. Once out of the shower and walking in the room barefoot, I noticed that there was grit of some sort in the carpet, so I was doubtful that it had been hoovered. The room was so hot that although I had had a shower, I was still sweating as I was getting ready, and the fan had done nothing to improve the airflow in the room. I left to meet family for dinner and stopped off at the front desk on my way. I asked the attendant on duty if there were any rooms with air conditioning, which there weren't, so I explained how hot the room was. He responded with; "Yes, that's probably something to do with the weather." There was no attempt at a solution. I was expecting maybe something like "I'm sorry, let me see if there is another room available at the front of the hotel so that there is better airflow", but I just received a flippant response. I was quite stunned how abrupt he was, and I left the hotel, hoping that when the sun went down the room would have cooled off by the time I returned later on that evening. It didn't. I returned at about midnight, and the room was just as airless and sweltering. I had a cold shower, and then tried to sleep. I couldn't. By 3:00am, I was sweating like it was the middle of the day, so I packed my things up and decided to leave. I went down to the front desk but there was no one to be seen. The front door to the hotel was unlocked, so the entirety of the hotel was unsecure. I tried to knock on doors I thought might be offices, but no response, so I called the hotel. The phone on reception rang out three times before the night manager came from the restaurant area, rubbing his eyes, obviously just been woken up by the phone ringing for so long. I told him what had happened, and he gave me the details of the hotel manager. I then drove 2 hours home. I phoned the hotel manager on Saturday morning, who offered me a refund of the second night, and the £50 deposit that was taken on check-in. Today is the fourth day since that conversation, and I am still waiting to see the refund in my account. Such a terrible stay, and such terrible service from a world renowned hotel chain. I am sure that the area manager for the chain would be embarrassed to have this hotel on their team."

"A lads overnight stay .check in not till 3 but we were able to leave bags ..india the receptionist was great friendly and approachable..we had 8 rooms .no one at all had any faults...we didn't have breakfast but check out wasn't till 11 so we all slept in...much needed...14 pound to park in hounds hill 2 mins away...safe and secure..would definitely return...."
