"Before coming here, I stayed at a business hotel in Taiwan, and it was a bit disappointing that the breakfast menu didn't change much. The location here was convenient, and the pool was easy to use. However, the room felt old, and there was rust in various places. On the positive side, many staff members spoke Japanese, and the signs were also written in Japanese."

"Summary: I used to think the Pullman hotels managed by Accor in Australia (Melbourne Central and Sydney Airport) were bad, but I never expected this Japanese-managed Pullman in Cairns to be even worse. I consider myself quite adaptable to the hospitality environment in Australia, but I was still shocked by the chaotic management of this Pullman Cairns International. 1. I checked into the hotel around 3 PM that day (paid over $100 for an upgrade to a superior room). The first room had fresh stains on the carpet (possibly bloodstains). The second and third rooms I was moved to had dirty linens. By the time I moved to the third room at 4 PM, I was too exhausted to move anymore, so I just asked them to change the linens, and I forced myself to sleep. The next morning, I woke up and was about to wash my face when I found very clear light red stains (didn't take a picture) on the bathroom hand towel. At this point, I completely lost trust in the hygiene of their amenities! I strongly recommend anyone brave enough to stay here to bring all their own disposable toiletries! 2. The service was very 'casual.' On the positive side, it had the typical patience of Japanese service, and they were 'responsive' to requests. After the third room change, a Japanese supervisor and what appeared to be a housekeeping manager personally came to my room to tidy up and even vacuumed the floor. The young staff at the front desk were also nice. However, the room service was a complete mess. I asked the front desk to send a comb to my room but waited all night without receiving it. The next day, I was 'lucky' enough to get a toothbrush when I asked for one."

"Got economy room , only one night. Arrived late left early. Room ok, small. Had shower toilet aircon and a bed plus a jug with tea/coffee and milk, what more could you want ? Rained all night so a little noisy drip drip drip outside window. Stay ok, will get better room next time if it’s raining. Check in/out very easy, booking easy, No problems and price was good."

"Quite Central to where you need to be in Cairns. At first sight, the hotel looked quite crusty externally but the room (and interior) were fine. Breakfast was rather delicious. Pool looked ok but don’t actually go in as there was little cover from the sun i.e. additional deck chair umbrellas. Had to haggle for a late check-out (from 10am to 11am) but in the end, after using reason and logic, we got there… Overall a good experience"

"If I could give it a zero I would. This hotel is a scam. Please do not stay here. This hotel was booked on my family's behalf in town for a funeral and knowing what I know now I wouldn't let my dogs stay here let alone book and give them money front up. No right-minded person would. My stay at the hotel was extremely disappointing. The rooms and hallways had a strong odor of cigarettes and pot. The bedding was dirty and had no protection and only had sheets on them, and the towels had stains on them. The carpets were stained and sticky, and the bathroom was moldy and had dead insects. It felt like there were permanent residents living in the hotel which didnt feel safe. The room was not in good condition, with damaged and worn furniture adding to the poor ambiance. We found a ladies' handbag in a drawer with personal belongings, which made us question the cleanliness of this room.Other family staying in differnt room had the same issues. After spending less than a minute in the room, we decided not to stay. Unfortunately, reception was closed, and we had to wait until the next day to lodge our complaint with managment. Even then, the after-hours staff could only pass on our concerns, leaving us without any solution at the time and no where to stay. In reading the ACCC regulations our booking falls under a major fault. Despite demanding a refund, we have yet to receive one even after a week of correspondence and both the hotle and Wotif say we are entitled to a refund for our 3 days booking. I have escalated the matter to various consumer protection agencies, including the health department, Consumer Affairs Ombudsman, Fair Trading Office, and our bank. We are even exploring legal options. I refused to let them keep my $371 for a room that was moldy, dirty, and unsafe, especially considering the potential health hazards to my family. For your own safety and comfort, I would advise against staying at this hotel. This place is a SCAM."

"Curtains didn’t close fully so let a lot of light in. Sheets on bed crumpled, didn’t look freshly laundered. Group of people who were staying were out drinking around the cars in the car park, next morning there were empty bottles and the area smelled of urine, seemed like it may have been a regular occurrence. Was booked in for 2 nights but left after one and booked into a different hotel. Pay to read trip advisor for this hotel."
