The Queen at Chester Hotel, BW Premier Collection
"We arrived into Chester a good few hours before check in so wanted to ask if we could store our luggage, however our room was ready so we were told we could check in right away! (Great start!) We were also upgraded at a discount price (nice little touch there) The exterior is stunning, the revolving door (possibly my favourite part of the hotel haha) and grand staircase were just stunning! The staff were so friendly and helpful. I had cut my finger earlier in the day, it kept reopening and one of the staff was very helpful in getting me wipes and extra plasters as I’d ran out. The room itself was gorgeous!! We had a view of the back gardens which looked so nice with the autumn leaves! The bed was large and comfortable! I would love to know where to buy the pillows!! I HATE climbing stairs but they were just too grand not too. We didn’t eat in the hotel but we did have a drink in the bar whilst we waited for a friend and it was lovely. The food looked delicious. The one and only issue I had was the strange humming/buzz at night which made it difficult to drift off to sleep. However, I did bring earplugs and should have used them so that’s on me haha! Would definitely stay here again if/when we visit Chester!"

"Service at the hotel was excellent, staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had a snack (Fried chicken wing starter) which was also very good. I didnt use the spa so cannot comment. The location was excellent 9 min walk from the train station. I would definitely stay again if I returned to Chester."

"Super relaxing hotel, loved having the spa to use and the staff are so friendly! The hotel room was a little dated but you do feel you’re staying in a “proper” hotel! The staff looked after us so well and were even kind enough to put us in a quiet room as there was a wedding on one night, which we really appreciated. The grounds are lovely if you get chance to walk around!"

"Highlights - owner wonderful; close proximity to Chester; bath and shower; espresso maker (outstanding); smart TV; owner arranged for Sky TV to watch Open Championship. Issues - lack of plugs in convenient places (dining table); dining table in very awkward spot (suggest taking out couch in front of fake fireplace and putting table there; parking situation (though the owner provided us scratch-offs that allowed us to park at the property); Roku TV lost connection several times; not well set up for two couples (not an issue for us) due to double bed in basement with emergency egress via window and ladder."

"This was budget with a capital B. It was not very comfortable and the beds did not seem clean. People were wandering around outside the room at night and it did not feel safe. Facilities in the room such as TV were poor. This is not a guest house I would advise you to stay in."

Oakwood Farm Mews Chester
"Absolutely awful. We had stayed 5 years ago. And thought it might be a good place to stay again. Unfortunately not the shower wasn't clean. The pillows, duvet, mattress cover all had so much yellow staining Advertised as luxury mews accommodation, it definitely isn't. We were unlucky enough to have the noisiest downs neighbour, so definitely no sound proofing. Constantly shouting , singing, talking so loudly until we'll after 3.30am. So we had no sleep. And although no-one would have known the neighbour had no thought fir the rest of us staying there. It was an awful experience we stayed one night of two we are offered no refund as apparently, we should have got in touch with the owners. We weren't in until late. We were tired, last thing people need it having to get fresh bedding, a cleaner in etc. I was told we only made a bad review after receiving no refund. But that is not true. The bad review was happening anyway to warn others to AVOID staying at this place. 🙃 "
