"The explanation about the additional charges at the site was unhelpful, which caused some trouble. Trip.com made a reservation for 5 people, 3 adults, 1 junior high school student and 1 elementary school student, and the information on the meal plan was for 4 people, so we ordered an additional meal for 1 child. When we arrived at the facility, the agent told us that the reservation was for 4 people on *******, so we showed them the reservation screen to confirm that the reservation site was different and that the reservation was for 5 people. They said they understood the reservation details, so we asked how much the additional meal cost was, but we didn't get a clear answer at that point, and when we checked out, they said that there was no additional setting for meals only, so the regular price for 1 night and 2 meals (higher than the price via trip.com) would be the same price, but we were told that it was okay. No, no, we were only planning to pay for the additional child's meal, but there was no setting, so it would end up being more expensive, but they didn't answer when we asked, and we were told at checkout. It's not a facility with the latest equipment, but we enjoyed the hot springs, the room, and the food, so it was disappointing to leave the inn in an unpleasant mood."

"Staying here was my favorite part of our 16 day trip to Japan. Chikuma was gorgeous with plenty of walking and biking options for those who enjoy nature but not the crowds. We went to Kamikochi afterwards and wished we had spent those nights back at Kamesei Ryokan instead. Our room was spacious and beautiful, and what's not to like about soaking in the onsen three times a day. All of the meals we had were memorable and delicious and the Kamesei team made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you again!"

"An authentic Japanese-style hotel. The facilities are a bit old but very clean. The hot spring is very natural and has a strong smell of sulfur. The skin is very smooth after washing it. It is available 24 hours a day. The boss, wife and waiters are all very enthusiastic and highly recommended."

"As I crossed the Taisho Bridge over the Chikuma River from Togura Station, a striking building popped up right in front of me... I'd always wanted to stay there, so I did! Yukata amenities are located next to the first-floor lobby. There are also entertainment facilities, a souvenir shop, and karaoke. When I took the elevator to the back, I was greeted by a cute, Showa-era retro advertising sign. The room felt clean and nice. However, I was bothered by the loud, squishy noise it made when I walked in. 💧 The toilet has a washlet. I don't think I'll be using the in-room bath, but the shower is difficult to adjust. As for the hot springs, they alternate between men and women, and the availability of the open-air bath changes depending on whether the number of guests is odd or even. The location is fantastic, right in front of the Chikuma River (though it's a shame they don't have a 24-hour bath). If you plan to go out, be aware that there is a night-time entrance next to the front desk, but it is locked between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM (apparently you can open it by using the intercom). This time, I only stayed with a room-only plan, so I don't know about the meals, but I was pleased that I was able to stay at a reasonable price for a hotel of this size."

"Excellent experience at a traditional ryokan! I gave 4/5 stars for location because there are no particular views (it's right in the middle of the town), but the other features more than compensate for this. All the staff we met were very courteous and professional. Meals were traditional and introduced us to many interesting dishes. Onsens were small but since this hotel only has eight room, they are never crowded. Also the onsens are open through the night which I especially appreciated."

Since we go to Chikuma City from afar, we have stayed at several regular hotels other than Sasaya Hotel and decided that the final one is Sasaya Hotel. In this situation, other hotel reservations cannot be made. In order to plan your travel plan every year, many people should first book a hotel that you really want to go to, and then plan a travel plan for other places you want to go. I think there are many such people. On the phone, when I told him by phone, "I go every year as decided by regulars, I want to make a plan for autumn this year as well ...", the answer at the front desk was "Under the same conditions, no advance consultation by phone at all." I will not receive " I was refused. I stay every year and there are regulars who want to go to the Sasaya Hotel in the fall this year as well, so I designate the Sasaya Hotel. "Cost-cutting measures were noticeable. I went to the hot springs two minutes before 3:30 PM, as I was told it would be open then, but it was pitch black. I returned to my room, contacted the front desk, and they turned on the lights. I was staying in what was advertised as the only suite in the building, so I expected to have breakfast there as well as dinner, but I was with a family with children and it wasn't very relaxing. I wish they had at least provided private dining rooms for meals on the special suite floor. The evacuation route map posted on the room door was also from before the renovation. Dinner was delicious, with local ingredients skillfully prepared."
