I was able to purchase tickets for a nearby hot spring facility (about 5 minutes walk) at a low price at the reception! We hope to stay again next time."

The windows are even ceiling and are very open, but since it is across the road from the lake, trees are planted for blindfolding and you need to go out for a walk to see the lake."

"Stayed in March 2024. I have stayed at this hotel many times. This was the first time I booked through Trip.com. The website said it was a one night, two meals plan, but when I arrived at the hotel, I was told it was a one night stay without meals. We argued over the counter, but no one could come to an agreement. I called Trip.com and explained the situation. They admitted that I had booked a one night, two meals plan, but the hotel had received the reservation information from the wholesaler, Rakuten Travel, so I decided to hang up and wait to confirm with Rakuten Travel. When I called back, Trip.com proposed that I pay the hotel for two meals at once, and then Trip.com would transfer the amount later. There was no guarantee that the money would be transferred, and if it wasn't transferred, it would be a loss for us, so it was not a very good idea, but dinner time had already started, so I accepted it. I paid for the meal at the front desk, ate, and sent the receipt to Trip.com from my room. After I told them my transfer details, the amount was transferred the next day, so there was no expense for me, but I hope this never happens again."

Located in Nagano Prefecture, Tateshina in November is noticeably chilly, but the crisp, fresh air and beautiful clear skies made it an exceptional experience. It felt incredibly refreshing, lifting my spirits in a way that’s hard to put into words. The Tokyu Harvest Club Tateshina is not only appealing because of its stunning natural surroundings but also thanks to the warm and attentive service provided by the local staff. Their smiles and thoughtful hospitality made the stay even more enjoyable and memorable. The drive from Tokyo to Tateshina was another highlight of the trip. Along the way, we stopped by several local markets, where we picked up fresh vegetables and fruits. These local treats added a special touch to the journey, making the drive even more delightful. Tateshina is a destination that shines year-round, offering unique beauty in every season. However, the crisp November air and the lingering autumn colors make this time of year particularly enchanting. If you have the chance, I highly recommend visiting—it’s an experience you won’t forget!"

"Reasonably priced, 8,800 yen including two meals. It's not exactly frugal, but the meals are a set course and they serve hot food. The rooms are clean, and there are no trash cans, so you have to take your trash home with you. Above all, it's great that you can use the hot springs 24 hours a day. Make sure to listen carefully to the instructions on how to use the bath. 😆 Amenities include bath towels, which are 300 yen to rent, and face towels and toothbrushes, which you can request and check if they're free. Is it worth it for that price? The owner is friendly."

"Good points: - It was fresh to be able to eat seafood and salt-grilled sweetfish around the hearth. The meat we ordered as an extra was very tasty. Bad points: - It was a midsummer day, so the air conditioner was turned on but stopped after a while. "We've turned off the air conditioner in the entire building. The outside air will cool down in about an hour..." was the reply. - When we went to the large public bath around 8:30pm, we bumped into a Chinese tour group. As there were no signs in other languages, we saw the following behaviour: - They brought smartphones to the outdoor bath, occupied the outdoor bath with six people for over 30 minutes, left the shower and taps running (they went around turning them off), and got into the bathtub."

Everything feels natural and beautiful, and the atmosphere is so peaceful and special. People who work here are passionate about their job, and as a passionate person myself I feel energized and happy to see others be so amused about what they do. I will always remember my first stay here and I will compare other ryokans I go to with Meiji Onsen Ryokan, because I feel that it’s the best ryokan in Japan. Thank you so much for this amazing experience. And Okami-chan is the best girl in all of Nagano! When I come back home, I will tell everyone who she is and where she is from - Meiji Onsen Ryokan, Chino, Nagano, Japan! 🇯🇵 (As a fantastic bonus, it’s even allowed to go in with uncovered tattoos! Not every ryokan can match up to that!)"
