"I'll be honest: I debated writing this. Da Lat is my go-to escape, and Haven in the Pines has already become my favourite property here. Part of me wanted to keep it to myself... I've stayed at most of the well-regarded options over the years — Ana Mandara, SAM Tuyen Lam, Edensee, Terracotta, Cereja, even a few private villas around the lake. Each has its charms. Haven in the Pine, which only opened in March 2026, has already topped them all. What sets it apart is its balanced offering. Most Tuyen Lam-area resorts swing to extremes: too corporate and soulless, or so "rustic" it starts to feel like a compromise. Haven gets the balance right — right on the lake, surrounded by old pine forest, clean and well-appointed rooms, relaxed rather than performative luxury. But the people are the real story here. Owner Ms. Charlene (Singaporean, clearly hands-on) and GM Mr. Tuan run a tight, warm operation. The receptionists remembered our names throughout the stay — a small thing that isn't small. When we wanted a lakeside BBQ, the team set up a proper bonfire by the water without being asked twice. That kind of initiative is rare. Don't skip this experience. The pine forest trail to the mountain top is another standout. Properly rewarding, not overly curated. But it's not perfect. Haven is still in soft opening and it shows. The bathtub is unusually high — genuinely awkward to step into. No shower curtain means the bathroom floor gets completely soaked after every shower. Our room 206 had an intermittent unpleasant odour, likely from the drainage. Breakfast is fresh and tasty, but the spread lacks variety — a noticeable gap for a two-night stay. These feel like conscious trade-offs to hit an aggressive price point, which partly explains why the resort has already attracted a younger, broader crowd. Whether that's a feature or a bug depends on what you're looking for. To the team's credit, you flag anything, and they respond immediately, no defensiveness, no excuses. That attitude is more valuable than a flawless hard product. Getting there is about 30 minutes from central Da Lat — easy by private car, which you really should have here. The shared access road right in front of the resort is regularly congested due to a nearby cafe that has become inexplicably trendy thanks to social media, drawing huge weekend crowds. Guests may find arrivals and departures more stressful than expected. Last but not least, more activities are reportedly coming, which will strengthen the package further. Fix the bathroom details, broaden the breakfast, sort the drainage — and this place is close to flawless. For now, it's the best-balanced property I've stayed at in the Tuyen Lam area. My new default when I'm in Da Lat. Reluctantly shared."

"A quiet, secluded, and incredible place. We spent three wonderful days here, enjoying excellent breakfasts with a beautiful view. There's an area where you can take a walk, and the staff is attentive. It's convenient if you have a car, and there's a bistro and a restaurant on site. This is the best place we've ever stayed; we'll definitely be back many more times."

"Excellent location. You couldn't ask for better – it's across from the lake and the night market, and just a 15-minute walk to the Crazy House. There are pho restaurants, coffee shops, and the most popular supermarket within a 10-minute radius. The rooms are quite basic, but for a short trip, the value for money is acceptable. Amenities are provided, and the pillows and mattress are comfortable. The cleanliness is typical for a budget hotel in Vietnam. The staff are very friendly and helpful. However, there's one major drawback for me personally: there's absolutely no soundproofing. And many locals stay at the hotel with their children. They walk up and down the corridors between rooms, talking loudly. They go into their rooms, turn on the TV and music loudly, start moving things around, and the kids shriek. This goes on until around 11 PM and starts up again from 6-7 AM. If you're a heavy sleeper, I highly recommend this hotel. For its price, it's excellent. But if you struggle to sleep with noise and wake up at every sound, you might want to look for other places with thicker walls."
