"Location: Very satisfied. It's a hotel right across the street from the train station. Service: I understand that with so many tourists, the hotel wants to make things convenient. The front desk staff, working daily, are naturally very familiar with the hotel facilities. However, not every guest can understand how to operate the machines in just a few words. Other hotels have staff to teach guests how to use the same machines. This Daiwa didn't. The guest didn't successfully check into their room, and the front desk didn't remind them, which was a major drawback. Cleanliness: The bathroom cleaning was so-so. I was surprised to find tattered sheets in this hotel; I've never encountered this in several Daiwa hotels. Given my generally good impression of Daiwa, my expectations were too high. The curtains were strangely dirty (see picture). Parking: Convenient, and the male and female staff were very polite. Breakfast: Very disappointing. The food selection was limited and rather casual, with only a few Western and Japanese options. I wouldn't choose to add breakfast for the same price. The younger staff weren't helpful either; their conversation and laughter were louder than the guests' eating."

"Because the flight to Okayama was diverted to Osaka and cancelled, we arrived about three hours later than expected. After calling the hotel, they helped us reserve dinner (normally dinner is at 7 o'clock at the latest). After arriving at about 8 o'clock, dinner was served as originally scheduled, which was very good. The room is spacious and very clean, with four beds, and it looks like you can also sleep on the floor. This room is 85 square meters, which is no problem for a family. The decoration quality is very high, and there is a type-c USB port on the wall, a full set of Sony TVs, echo walls, etc. There is only Japanese breakfast, but the room type I booked can go to a room similar to the executive lounge, which has coffee, drinks, small pastries, etc., as well as drinks, all free. The hotel service is very good, and there are waiters who speak English. The shuttle bus to Fukuyama Station takes about half an hour, and the schedule can be checked on the official website. The hot spring is clean, there is also water massage, and there is a sauna room. There is an open-air hot spring pool on the third floor and on the top floor, but it was too cold when I went there. Very good hotel, with few people."

"Migiwatei Ochi Kochi offers beautiful views, and the staff were consistently warm, attentive and welcoming. Although the hotel has considerable charm, the property is showing its age and would benefit from some updating. Unfortunately, we did not find our stay as peaceful or relaxing as we had hoped. The ferry terminal is located directly in front of the hotel, so there was noticeable noise from the ferries throughout the day. More concerning was the strong smell of diesel fumes. Each room has an outdoor veranda, but the fumes were noticeable while sitting outside, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We could also smell the diesel fumes while using our private outdoor bath, and at times they were quite overwhelming. As a result, we were unable to fully enjoy what should have been one of the highlights of the room. This was a real shame, although we appreciate that the ferry operations are beyond the hotel’s control. The meals were satisfactory, but what stood out most was the exceptional attentiveness of the staff. As I do not enjoy fish, they kindly went out of their way to adjust and replace parts of my meals, which I sincerely appreciated. Overall, Migiwatei Ochi Kochi is a pleasant hotel with lovely views and genuinely caring staff. However, prospective guests seeking complete tranquillity or hoping to enjoy the veranda and private outdoor bath should be aware of the ferry noise and diesel fumes from the terminal directly in front of the hotel."

"Stopped for a night here during our roadtrip and we wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is a traditional ryokan and the lobby is nicely decorated with some really old furniture. Breakfast is delicious with local fish and ingredients, I wish we had order dinner the night before."

"They explained how the accommodation is run, and knowing it's operated by local people made me feel very connected to them. Although meals weren't included, they made a reservation for me at a nearby cafe that was open even on New Year's Day, and I was able to enjoy an Italian course meal. The accommodation, a renovated old house, offered a spacious and luxurious use of one floor, making it very comfortable. I would love to come back again when I have more time to slowly soak up the atmosphere of the whole town."
